@@r-r8047 That was a standing knockdown. Vann recognized it & checked to if Katsidis could continue. Earl had an opportunity to finish him off, but only did enough to let Katsidis regain his composure. Because of the significant striking from Katsidis to close out the round, I still felt he won the round. The only round I would give Earl would be the round before his corner stopped the fight. Earl never listened to his corner when the they instructed him to establish the jab and move & to not trade with Katsidis in terms of slugging it out because he was on the losing end of those exchanges.

I've never seen a referee refuse a towel thrown in from the corner. In most places, the fight would have been stopped after the second knockdown.

@@r-r8047 Bang on. Everybody seems to have missed the fact that Mickey Vann should have never never gave Katsidis that standing count. If he didn’t give Katsidis (which allowed him to recover) I think Earl would have stopped him thus Earl would have won the fight.

Best fight I have ever seen live! Earl should have never been put in the ring after this fight. He was still punch drunk in the Khan fight. Lost 3 out of 4 after that. Including a rematch I'm Australia with Katsidis. It went 12 rounds this Time. But we go to Katsidis he clearly was never anywhere near the same after his brother tragically died days before he was due to ride a well fancied horse in the Melbourne Cup. I'm just so so grateful they managed to put this expedition on

Earl probably could have continued. He loved to trade. I wish Earl would have gone to the bread basket more, rip uppercuts up the middle to split the guard and box more instead of slug fest but he has the heart of a lion. He probably could have won had his corner allowed him to continue. I wis his corner would have told him to make the adjustments I mentioned above. His chin is 💯 so is his heart 💯.
