A bit later in the fight I would have agreed with you but at this point the towel coming in was premature Even the rest of his corner was saying no snr throw the towel in when it happened and was happy for him to keep fighting even chearing when he dropped his opponent and not pulling him out at the end of the round so even they knew it was too early.

The ref has to refuse the stoppage to prevent fixed fights from corner men, which is why ONLY the ref, fighter, or doctor can stop a fight. A towel throw only alerts the ref, but it's the refs decision to stop. Most of the time refs comply, but in this case it was too early.

The first ref that gave Fury 16 second count or the second one that actually got it right? Fury drastically outboxed Wilder in the first fight but he was down for more then a 10 count. That’s a fact. The truth came out in the second fight and I don’t give Wilder much a chance in the trilogy but if he lands the right he can sleep you. My guess for the 3rd fight is Fury by KO in the 7th.

allow leng he was down for a really long time. That ref saved him. He was out. Like I said. I thought he won on the cards but his ass was out. Watch the film. It doesn’t lie. You and I both know that. Either way he destroyed Wilder in the second fight and more then likely will in the trilogy. It’s to a point in boxing where they need a super heavyweight division. I’d say 240+. Wilder gave up at least 40 pounds.

Vann handled so many fights so well. As a kid used to be as happy to see him in the ring as my favourite boxers. His book is a good read too. He used to have a trick of pinching the meat at the back of the arm to get boxers who were not engaging to fight a bit. Legend.

Point being towel is the signal of a forfeit. However as the announcers said there are no cornerman forfeits. Which a lot of people probably don’t know

@@pissonthe0fighteverybody276 Except it's not. That's a world wide boxing rule. Only a referee or ringside doctor can stop a fight. Throwing ANYTHING in to the ring is grounds for a disqualification. The referee can decide whether or not to DQ the fighter. Cornermen usually throw the towel in as a sign of forfeiture and it's to get their fighter DQ'd. In this fight Earl had an awful corner. He wasn't getting bullied he was getting hit and throwing counters or he was outright avoiding/blocking hits. The referee made a brilliant call. If Earl or anyone had lost like that they would have regretted the match for a long time coming.

I had no idea, that’s a crazy rule. I mean they got some tough fighters that come out of England. But a guy can get killed in that ring, it happens all the time. We average 5 to 6 deaths a year in the boxing ring. Thanks for the information brother.

No the rule is if the corner throws in the towel then the ref can decides to end the fight or carry it on. Normally they go with the corner. This is the rules in the UK, elsewhere it's different
