I must have missed this video before. I never saw the open frame idea before, which is so great, because as a crafting junkie, I have a whole bunch of open frames that I bought at different times on clearance that I never have used. Now I am glad, because I have a whole list of great ideas for them. Thanks again Fran for your inspirational ideas and AWESOME products!!!

Beautiful pieces, thank you. Question, if you make the dome separately in a mold do you use resin to stick it to bezel or some type of glue?
@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin Ай бұрын
Thanks! You can do this either way, the important thing is to make sure the bezel is clean, and then you can use either a drop or two of resin or another clear adhesive, you may need to test out your materials to make sure the adhesion will be strong enough. Let me know if I can be of help in any other way :) fran@little-window.com

I’m watching this 5 years after you originally posted it, so I doubt that you will see my comment. Recent tutorials for putting pictures into resin say that you need to seal the picture completely before it touches the resin. Either use ModPodge, or a laminator, or a varnish spray. Now after watching your video, I’m wondering if that is really necessary. Is it your special photo paper that makes the difference?

Your work is beautiful! However don't you have any health concerns working with resin?
@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Brigitte, thanks for your comment! I understand and appreciate your concern. I use Brilliant Resin, the safest epoxy you'll find. There is safety guidance on the bottles and in all of the maker guides, and I'm typically mixing small batches (1-2 TBSP), to make small projects, I cover them with dust covers, and have good ventilation in my space. Resins are sensitizers, meaning the more you're exposed, the more likely you may be to experience irritation. You'll need to consider situational use of both gloves and vapor masks/respirators, depending on the size of your project and your frequency of use. This is especially important if you're using a resin that contains more harmful chemicals, if you're working in a space that doesn't have good air flow, and/or if you're working on larger projects (canvases, tumblers, large castings, etc), making multiple projects simultaneously, mixing large batches, or not using dust covers. If you have chemical sensitivities, or plan to use a lot of resin, you'll certainly want protective gear. If you have any other questions email fran@little-windows.com and I'll be happy to help. Keep creating :) - Fran

I'm new to using resin so I have a few questions. Is this resin the same as uv resin or does it set by itself and if so how long does it take to set by itself. You are not using gloves what happens if resin gets on the skin? Does it smell loud, do we need a mask. Do you need special paper and ink for the photos? Thanks
@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Sky One! This is not UV resin, it's an epoxy resin, which means it's 2-parts that get mixed together in whatever amount you need, then it sets up on its own and can be handled after 12 hours, which gives you plenty of time to move and add elements. This Brilliant Resin is the safest you'll find, and since I'm usually making tiny things with tiny batches, I don't wear gloves as that tends to make more of a mess as I fiddle. If I get any on my fingers I wipe with dry paper towel then wash with dish soap until it's no longer sticky. This brand does not have much smell at all, but if you are chemically sensitive you can certainly wear gloves and a vapor mask. www.little-windows.com/collections/brilliant-resin-2 I use these Special Photo Papers for Resin, which can be inkjet or laser printed. They make a permanent bond with inks, and do not need to be sealed before resining. www.little-windows.com/collections/special-papers I hope that helps :) fran@little-windows.com

@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sherry! Please never use a torch with resin, it's just too hot and can be harmful in many ways, but you can certainly use a heat gun on a low setting. This is especially important as you work in molds as high heat can cause resin to bond to the mold material. Hope that helps :)

Hey! Thanks for your video! I have only one question - when you apply epoxy in thin bezels, does it stay in there? I'm scared that it would be easy to pop it out..
@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Katerina! I know what you mean, but what matters more than the depth of your bezel is the surface texture. If it's super shiny your resin is vulnerable to popping out, so I usually sand/scratch up the inside of the bezel a bit before pouring resin, to give it more grip. If it does pop out you can always glue it back in, but it's better to avoid that if possible and routinely rough up the metal before filling. Does this help? - Fran

Thanks Judit! It's challenging but doable, you'll have to find a way to either 1) let the resin thicken up and apply in thin layers while keeping the piece turning as it sets (a bit tricky), or 2) create a thinnish flat piece, then trim and apply it around your piece before the resin hardens fully. Our Amazing Tape will be a big help with this option. I hope that helps, let me know how your creations turn out :)

Awesome tutorial. But, 4 hours to let an alcohol wipe dry off?
@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin 4 жыл бұрын
I know, it's extreme, but some people douse their projects so you potentially could end up with a 4-hour dry time, and since the alcohol likely contains water, this is a better-safe-than-sorry scenario. You'll have to gauge it yourself but just know that epoxy resins hate moisture. Thanks for the feedback, I think this helps clarify for everyone :) - Fran

@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Kiruthika, that depends on how shiny/smooth the metal surface is. Resin needs something to grab onto so if your metal has a lip that'll hold it in, or a pattern in it you should be OK, if it's super shiny and smooth, you can rough it up just a tiny bit using fine grit sandpaper or a nail file. Do you think you can make wire frames and do this same technique? I am looking to do some hearts and tear drops as well as squares, ovals and circles.
@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Christi! Yes you sure can, the trick will be the part where the wire crosses over itself. The resin can easily slip under at that point, so you'll need to either ensure it's flat with a good tape seal, or let the resin thicken up more before pouring so it's not as likely to travel out of any gaps, or you can let the resin flow, let it set up, then trim it off the outside with sharp scissors. Have lots of fun, and please let me know how your creations turn out :)

Can you use UV resin
@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin 20 күн бұрын
Hello @crofterlass3459, you can with some projects, but if you try anything in bezels you'll need to be careful with the cure as your light will most likely not work to set any resin beneath the photos or films. You'd need to adhere your flat pieces with a dry adhesive like our Double-Sided Adhesive, then just resin the top, I'd do it in 2 thin layers to ensure the cure. Hope that helps :) fran@little-windows.com

Here's a link to a tutorial in which I demonstrate 3 ways you can resize your photos to fit small projects like these: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWOtdpltZbmbjLM Option 1) Using our online Photo Cropping Software at little-windows.com, there is a free version you can try before you buy. Option 2) Using GoogleDocs or MicroSoft Word to resize your photos. Option 3) Using Photoshop to resize your photos. You'll see the pros and cons of each option to see which best fits your needs. (In my opinion our Photo Cropper is the easiest, let me know what you think :) If you have any other questions just let me know, I'm happy to help. - Fran

Hello Rita! I'm not sure which punch you're interested in, but you'll find ones that match our bezels, molds, and photo cropping software here: www.little-windows.com/collections/paper-punches-2 Thanks for asking :) fran@little-windows.com

Are your prices still the same in 2023?
@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin Жыл бұрын
Hello Marie! Yes, despite the chaos in sourcing every element over the last 2 years, I've done my best to keep pricing stable, pushing for efficiency in assembly and production vs. charging you more. So far, so good! Keep creating :) fran@little-windows.com

you seem like ur a woman that knows her crafting hope you can help me out, I bought the deep circle bezel HERE: www.hobbylobby.com/Beads-Jewelry/Jewelry-Findings/Bezels/Extra-Deep-Circle-Bezel---38mm/p/69301 it's 38mm i assume the inside so I wanted to measure the inside with a digital caliper but one reads 17.9mm so I'm now confoozed, or am i measuring with the wrong tool? hope you could resolve this TY and for the video, i enjoyed watching.

Hello Rom3! Sounds like your calipers are converting your measurements to radius instead of diameter, can you look to see if it has another setting or markings on the other side? That one should be 38mm but the online description doesn't say if that's the inner or outer dimension. If you'd like to email me and let me know what you're trying to fit in there I'll be happy to advise :). - fran@little-windows.com

How do you attach the cabochons to the bezels?
@LittleWindowsResin
@LittleWindowsResin 7 ай бұрын
Hello @bttarga34, sorry for any confusion, these are not cabochons, I'm layering images and Dichro-ISH Films in Brilliant Resin in each bezel. Here's a link to the full tutorial with close-up photos that should help explain the process: www.little-windows.com/blogs/project-center/88157511-resin-in-bezels Please let me know if you have any more questions :) fran@little-windows.com
