Omg the Doc marten struggle IS REAL 😂😅 I’m gonna be honest I’ve had mine in the wardrobe for nearly a year cause I was put off the first time I wore them, it felt like my feel were ripped apart and I haven’t wore them since 😅😅 I keep hearing that you have to wear them in BUT HOWWWW lol ~ my brother got a pair and did something with mink oil? To soften them! Also I LOVE that you’ve been showing us some more of your outside life away from work! It’s amazing to see how your style, decor, where you go actually influences your art! You are glowing fran! You’ve had a really tough few years but you seem so much happier! I hope you are having a wonderful time cause you DA BEST! Xxxx

For the boots: I use a piece of kinesiology tape over my heels. it‘s kinda like blister patches but prevent blisters and way cheaper and less packaging compared to the amount you get out of it! (best to use before you have blisters though and add socks that are taller than the boot) It‘s also good cause you can adjust the size of your ‚patch‘ easily

Duct Tape - put duct tape on your heels to break in those boots. Of course if you have a blister or open wound put on a band-aid first, then duct tape over it. This makes breaking in your new boots so much smoother.

Fran, if throwing the lipstick package away troubles you, you can always easily use it to hold the next lipstick bullets you buy when that lipstick is done, regardless of brand. Simply freeze the lipstick a little and when it's solid you can just slide it in the old container. This has worked for me before, provided they are the same size, but they usually are :)
@RhomanysRealm2 жыл бұрын
Fran, wear two thin pairs of socks while you break your new boots in. The friction will be absorbed by the socks instead of giving you blisters.

Thank you for sharing your concern and my same frustration with packaging. We all have to be aware of the need for refilling/reuseable/recycling packaging.
@chiaramarker2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it‘s pretty sad that many brands didn‘t think that much about the environmental issues which are caused because of their packaging :c But.. maybe you could make your own lipbalm and use their package to refill it by yourself when the original product is used up? ^^ So you don‘t have to throw the package away?

The key for breaking in docs is two pairs of socks! Just regular socks, the first pair stops the rubbing when the second pair moves around in the shoe if that makes sense. Really good blister plasters like compeed can be good too though

I love your perspective on antidepressants! I was medicated for about 3 years, I did it to get things a bit more regulated and I finally hit a point where therapy was working and I could come off them. I have new meds for acute stuff but knuckling down and doing the work and taking your healing seriously is so, so important. You're breaking down barriers just by being honest and open Fran xx Also: when the car beeped in your vid someone beeped on my street and it sounded like they were saying hello to each other x

Got my first pair of docs a few months ago and while they fit great, I still have some heel slipping happening, so I get heel blisters. What has made everything PERFECT is that I got some "tongue pads" -- they're soft pads you stick on the inside of the tongue of the boot, and this pushes your foot further back to where its supposed to be. You can layer 2-3 pads or even more I guess, depending on what you need. Now my heels don't move, and my docs are like fitted sexy leather gloves for my feet haha! Also this video was very soothing to watch while drawing, thank you! :)

Fran, I remember my ankles were raw with my first docs too. I went out and bought a lot of that stretchy ace bandage wrap for sprained ankles and just wrapped my ankles everytime i wore the shoes. It helped to reduce some of the friction that causes the bleeding. Cotton wrap made from tshirt strips might also work? Good luck!

Hi Fran! i have some tips for the doc martens: 1) take the bottom insole out - it'll give you more room in the boot while you break them in, 2) layer tights under a pair of socks for the first while to help with friction, and 3) bring a pair of extra shoes just in case (ex. keep a pair in the studio). You HAVE to go slow and i definitely messed up a few times and ended up with sore feet because i thought i could do more than i could. BUT i've had mine for two years now and they are the comfiest shoes i own and never hurt me ❤️

I literally feel your pain! Almost all shoes seem to hate my feet so they can end up in a real mess sometimes. I'm sorry you're experiencing this and hope your Docs ease up on you soon! Also, I'd recommend the Babacom aluminium laptop stand for your iPad. Although it's a laptop stand it also fits the iPad and was recommended by another artist suffering from neck and wrist pain after using her iPad for long periods of time. It works really well and isn't expensive.

I can finally wear my docs regularly! I usually do those wide bandaids over the ankles and then layer 2 socks to avoid blisters. My boots were also just a liiiiitle too big (I got a woman’s 5 and I’m more realistically a 4 or 4.5) and I put lifts in them and they fit like a dream now.

Fran, I know it sounds strange but it works ok? To soften your boots, put a strong plastic bag inside each one (be sure to make the bag go all over the tip of the boot inside), fill the bag with water, tie the boots laces hard. Tie tha plastic bags too. Put the boots with the water bags inside the freezer and let it freeze. Water expands when frozen, it will lightly expand inside your boots and soften it, so it won’t hurt your feet anymore. 🥰 I hope to see you rocking your amazing boots soon again. 🥰☺️😉😘
