This is so good! It's so nice to find a class that actually teaches us to do a combo. After two years in beginner ballet, I ventured into an intermediate class taught by the same instructor. I found that I was expected to know how to do many things that were never covered in beginner class, including turns. At the end of the class I had a heated discussion with the instructor. I asked her how I was ever going to learn turns when they were not taught in beginner class, but were a prerequisite for intermediate class. The next week she half-heartedly started to teach turns in beginner class. Unfortunately her interest only lasted a couple of weeks, and then it was back to the same old same old.

Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately, this is all too common. If you haven't already, give the 2nd season of my podcast a listen the 2nd season where I begin to outline some of these types of challenges especially this episode: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWqVaqahg7GVp7c I hope in listening you'll feel a little less alone in the struggle :) If you ever want to keep practicing at home between classes, I teach on Zoom every day and have thousands more recorded classes to help fill in these gaps at brocheballetonline.com/ Either way I hope you keep going, keep dancing, and I always wish you very happy dancing! :)

The pop songs converted into barre music gave me a chuckle!

Ha! Yes, I wanted to keep the music light and fun for frappés which many find to be frustrating! Hope you enjoyed the class. Happy dancing! :)

Love this! I appreciate the "color-coding" for the three levels. Makes it easy to find where I am at a glance on my Kindle when going back and forth to repeat a sequence.

I wanted to ask you something. So, I officially started ballet about 3 months ago in a studio, and I do lessons 2 hours a week. In the first lessons I didn't notice any type of pain. But, because I'm 15 and I really want to do something about ballet in the future.. and of course get on pointe.. I always think that I need to improve fast and build strength, I decided to do ballet at home too with the help of KZbin videos. So, after a week I noticed pain in my left knee. I think I overworked it. I'm literally not doing anything extreme on my own, instead of not warming up before the barre because in ballet studio we don't warm up too and start with plies instantly.. I always warmup at least 10 minute before streching at home. I went to the doctor and he just said that for 10 days I must not do any type of exercise. I didn't, I returned and after I decided that my knee pain is over and I can keep up with my home program.. I just did a ballet workout yesterday and knee pain started again. Not that much as the other time, but I feel that it started again. At home I am doing things on my level. Not too much. I follow an Absolute Beginner Ballet Series, streching routine and I try to practice in everything center movement we do at ballet studio.. for example changement, pique turns, pirouettes on deurs & dedans, glissade etc. I think that if I stop working by my own my knee pain will be over. But I really want to be the best version of me in ballet, and 2 hours of training in a week is nothing.. I will never succeed in anything with 2hrs a week. Maybe 15 min warm up isn't enough? I can do 30 min warm up if that's okay. And I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong..
