Tyre pressure on sand is all important. 0.9 bar is not too low for sand and it is unlikely to pop off if you drive civilized. Always have a good 4x4 compressor and an extra spare wheel. Anyway, I am preaching to the faithful. Never been to Fraser before but it is a dream. Living in South Africa it will be a dear but I think it is worth every penny for just one reason: it is safe in Oz. In ZA you are always at risk to be shot at. Many beautiful places are off limits due to safety concerns. A wrong turn may cost you your life as nearly happened to me and my wife. A good Samaritan drove in between my Jimny and the 4 accosters. This gave us the gap to accelerate away with two trying to slam out our rear windows followed by stones. Amazingly there were no damage. This dampened our spirits a lot. We ended up returning home two days earlier. It is worth going places where safety is axiomatic.

ha, took my 3 week old Nissan X-trail 2014 over to Fraser. Did 125 km, inland, beach you name it. Never got stuck once. Really hard concentrated driving. Constant criss crossing the tracks in the high places to avoid bottoming out and going like hell in some parts where there were no options. It can be done but needs some skill.

great video, Rugged Life ! .... another accommodation option is a Holiday Rental - there are some 80 or so privately owned houses and apartments/units available, which provide another more affordable option, for those not into camping.

Yes you are correct. Thanks for your input 👍

Hi Thanks for the video...I got Nissan xtrail. ..can you please tell me where can I get it 2" lift kit fitted or what is the maximum height raised you would recommend, I am here in Queensland too Thanks
@ruggedlife5 жыл бұрын
2" is the maximum you can have mate. Superior Engineering in Brisbane has a 2" strut spacer.

GREAT review. SIMPLE, EASY to understand, Informative, VERY HELPFUL. THANK You. Is there a limit to how long one can stay on the island? Are motorcycles allowed? Could I assume it would take about 1 week to see/explore the island? MANY Thanks. ALL the BEST.
@ruggedlife4 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate. From what I know, there is no limit to stay there. Yes you can ride your bike in the island. I would suggest a week if you can to see and enjoy every little bit of it. Otherwise, 4-5 days is enough.

I have just purchased a T31 X Trail 4x4. I have plans to raise it. As it's clearance is 210mm, what would be the maximum height this could go? Cheers
@ruggedlife6 жыл бұрын
Maximum lift you can go would be 50mm on suspension. However, lift springs for T31s only go to about 35mm. Increasing tyre size would be your next option.
@paulbland56256 жыл бұрын
@@ruggedlife Thanks for your reply. There are so many lift options and some say they go 4 inches. That seems to be a bit of overkill. As the law is changing here in qld on lift heights. I went back to your MOD videos and now have an idea. Thanks. Happy Trails

Yes i believe so but check with the kingfisher ferry and resort as they might have a vehicle to pick you up from their ferry.
