@@frozencowboy6552 That is the problem with reboots with only one actor that is constant from the original. Niles is the character that really carried the show, and without him the series just isn't like it was. Frasier interacting with Niles made the show along with the father and Daphne. They all played off each other well and made the show interesting. To only have Frasier is disappointing and Lilith wasn't really a big part of the show so her reappearance doesn't help much. IMPO they would have done well to have the show in the same city with the same places and some minor repeats. Trying to have Frasier carry the show in another city I just can't see it.

@@anon5263According to the Frasier universe, Frederick was born in 1989, and JP1 was released in 1993 as PG-13. @@eloiseockert9233 Why should they color their hair? It's been 20 years, both in the series and real life. People age, people change. And the dating part. People don't stop dating just because they are older now, so why would that not be a part of the series. And even if Freddy got the best education and "proper" life, he would obviously go a different way if he felt like it when he got older, and they said in an interview that they decided to make him a firefighter to pay tribute to martin who was a policeman. I think the show got better towards the last few episodes and hopefully it will continue to evolve and develop into something just as hilarious as the old frasier. hopefully more of the original cast will join or visit the show if more seasons gets picked up.

Frasier's apartment is dark, harsh and depressing, Freddie's is awful, every set is unusually ugly. These are places I don't want to be. There is no affection between any of the characters. Martin and Frasier were opposites and the friction was a source of humor and they showed love and respect for each other. Freddie just hates his father and thinks he is better than him. Everybody in this cast is mean spirited toward each other and that isn't funny. The actor who plays Freddie is not likeable at all. His behavior says "LOOK AT ME BEING FUNNY" but he isn't. The cast on the original show was spectacular, this cast has no chemistry - they all come across as mean except the actress who plays Eve but she simply isn't a good actress or funny. IMHO, I wish the Reboot would have taken an entirely different direction - drama first with a touch of humor. Imagine the drama concerning first responders (life & death, tragedy), education (in today's social media world), mental health with Frasier's humor mixed in. Through 7 episodes, the only emotional reaction I got was shedding a tear when Frasier & Freddy reminisced about Martin in episode 1. MASH was brilliant - surgeons trying to save lives in the Korean War when armies were trying to destroy each other; and All In The Family - Archie the bigot dealing with social changes in the 70's - dramedy at its best.

Just FYI. Frasier--original series and this--takes place in an alternate reality. See, the Frasier Crane on Cheers didn't have a cop as a father. He said both his parents were scientists, and his father was dead. They tried to explain this in the false (but amusing) reality where his mother is dead (though she appeared on Cheers, no mention of her husband being alive and a cop, and why would that snobby woman marry a cop? Why would he marry her?) And no mention of Niles, ever. Like it never once came up he had a brother? C'mon. Now you could explain this by the Cheers writers not thinking ahead to a spinoff, with the need for supporting characters who would provide humorous counterpoint. So they just scrapped all previous character backstory, which was probably a good idea for a show that had to stand on its own feet. But I explain it as an alternate reality, some kind of dimensional rift, and that's why I don't have to believe Frasier and Lilith got divorced. Or that Sam and Diane didn't get back together again after the Cheers finale (probably multiple times). Or that Cliff and Paul slept with Sam's fiance. Or that Sam had a fiance other than Diane. Or that she was played by Tea Leoni. (Yes, he was married before Cheers started, but that was probably an alternate reality too). Or that Rebecca's marriage didn't work out. Nothing revealed about on Frasier has any bearing at all on what happened to the characters in the the Cheers-verse. Hey, The Avenger movies do this all the time! It's a thing!
