Jimi Hendrix warmed up for the Monkees in my home town (at the fairgrounds) Sometimes there's no justice. But think of all the people that were enlightened by Freddie (and Jimi) because of the exposure on these goofy billings.

@@matthewhawkins6892 I was a month from turning 3 yrs old when that show happened, so I couldn't afford a ticket. But from what I've heard Jimi was well received ... expectedly blowing a lot of minds, I'm sure. (I just searched to find the date, 3/27/68, and it even shows a set list of 13 songs.)

It was GFR that wanted Freddie King on tour with them!! Farner loved the guy and was a huge influence on his playing. Fact is there is a line in the the GFR song American Band referencing Freddie King!! "Up all night with Freddie King I got to tell you, poker's his thing"

Bullshit ! Grand Funk Railroad from Flint, Michigan rocked it !! Saw them many times live, the Blues greats too ! Times were so cool when I was in my late teens, early 29’s. I was born in Detroit in 1953. I believe we had the best music of all time, even still. “Old’s ~ Cool”

Many don't know it was the Band GFR that wanted Freddie on tour with them. They were a huge fan of Freddie, especially Mark Farner! This is a line from We're an American Band>>>>>Up all night with Freddie King, I got to tell you, poker's his thing! Appears Mr. King was a helluva poker player, and cleaned some pockets out of there cash.
