This was a song from my era. I just listened to stuff on the radio at the time. I didn't buy records or cassettes really. I remember it as a Bowie song. Bowie's style is so identifiable to me since I was really familiar with Changes One and other Bowie stuff. I never even knew that Queen was involved ... until today. But in watching the video, it makes perfect sense now. So, yeah, I was thrown when @poloreacts27 mentioned a version without Bowie.

They never actually performed this song together live. This is a mashup of two different performances. The clips with Freddie are from the Queen 1986 Wembley concert and the clips with David Bowie are from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert in April of 1992, five months after Freddie passed away

David was a competent composer and song writer since 1969 has a huge catalog and none of his songs are cheesy. both Queen and David were recording at the same studio bumped into each other and the song was co-written by both Queen and David and released as a single, the song is credited to all five musicians. The original release is sung by both Fredie and David two huge stars combining their talents. The video is a mash up as they never performed the song live together. some of Davids songs you could listen to include space oddity, Life on mars, Ashes to ashes, Starman, Gene genie, Ziggy Stardust, young Americans, we can be heroes Rebel Rebel, Suffragette city just to name a few.

By far the best way to listen to this song. Bowie was a melodic genius, and wrote lyrics that go straight to your soul. Space Oddity is one of my favorites, but Changes, Fame, Golden Years, and a bunch more are all timeless. And to see Freddie and David on the same stage is an embarrassment of riches! Well at Queen’s live concerts Freddie obviously performs it without Bowie and I don’t really miss him. But having said that the studio version has Freddie singing this one really high note that he holds for so long and so high it almost sounds like an instrument instead of someone’s voice. In live performances Freddie didn’t go that high to save his voice.

Polo, I can’t think of a better Queen song for you react to at this time of year than “Thank God It’s Christmas!” As for David Bowie, Space Oddity is a biggie. Always makes me think of Elton John’s Rocket Man

Hi, there! love your reactions! Two of the best voices of all time, if not the best! Extremely talented, we miss them very much. I recommend Live Aid 1985, a mix of some Queen songs, amazing! Also "We will rock you" ,"One vision" and "I want to be free" from Wembley 1986... well, any of their live songs are incredible, many thanks, see you next time, cheers

It’s hard to pick a favorite Bowie track but the two that can always bring tears to my eyes are Heathen and Lazarus.

I think you would love Freddy's last video performance "These Are The Days Of Our Lives". It always brings me to tears as does Izzy's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"!

One of the best "tactical duets" ever. Another one is Willie Nelson and Ray Charles singing "Seven Spanish Angels.'

David Bowie is one of the greatest to do it, and one of my favorites. How about Man Who Sold the World, or Let's Dance (with a new Stevie Ray Vaughn), or Space Oddity, or Heroes, or Rebel Rebel. I could go on. I love him.

David Bowie was married to Iman, a Somalian American super model in the 1970's & '80's, from 1992 until his death from liver cancer in 2016. RIP David Bowie!

My favorite Queen song is Princes of the Universe; either the Highlander Tribute or the 2011 remastered version. "There can only be one!" Connor MacLeod⚡️

This is the original studio recording laid over a video mash-up of two different concerts. In the studio was the one and only time they ever sang it together. They never once performed it together live.
