The original was the two of them singing. They wrote it together. Just for concerts, they don't sing it together. David Bowie was legendary. RIP to them both.

This was a song from my era. I just listened to stuff on the radio at the time. I didn't buy records or cassettes really. I remember it as a Bowie song. Bowie's style is so identifiable to me since I was really familiar with Changes One and other Bowie stuff. I never even knew that Queen was involved ... until today. But in watching the video, it makes perfect sense now. So, yeah, I was thrown when @poloreacts27 mentioned a version without Bowie.

They never actually performed this song together live. This is a mashup of two different performances. The clips with Freddie are from the Queen 1986 Wembley concert and the clips with David Bowie are from the Freddie Mercury tribute concert in April of 1992, five months after Freddie passed away

Freddie singing opera with Montserrat Cabale: the song is "Barcelona". That is a completely unexpected side of Freddie but he was a huge fan of hers, and an opera lover generally. She was delighted to pair with him and they became fast friends. Must watch!

I would love to see a reaction to the Live Aid performance, the entire 20 minute set. You will see the true power that Mercury had over a crowd, but keep in mind the performance was broadcast around the world and his power came through that screen and touched everyone that witnessed it.

True. I was at JFK Stadium for LiveAid, and when Queen was onstage, i felt as though I was at Wembly. Freddie was on fire, just mesmerizing! And I had seen Queen several times prior... Freddie always left everything on stage, but LiveAid is the stand out performance for me.

David was a competent composer and song writer since 1969 has a huge catalog and none of his songs are cheesy. both Queen and David were recording at the same studio bumped into each other and the song was co-written by both Queen and David and released as a single, the song is credited to all five musicians. The original release is sung by both Fredie and David two huge stars combining their talents. The video is a mash up as they never performed the song live together. some of Davids songs you could listen to include space oddity, Life on mars, Ashes to ashes, Starman, Gene genie, Ziggy Stardust, young Americans, we can be heroes Rebel Rebel, Suffragette city just to name a few.

"Who wants to live forever" written by Brian May for the film "Highlander" is heartbreaking and showcases Freddie’s voice to perfection. Freddie also did a wonderful collaboration with opera singer Monserrat Caballe which he wrote for her "Barcelona." It is utterly brilliant from both of them.

By far the best way to listen to this song. Bowie was a melodic genius, and wrote lyrics that go straight to your soul. Space Oddity is one of my favorites, but Changes, Fame, Golden Years, and a bunch more are all timeless. And to see Freddie and David on the same stage is an embarrassment of riches! David Bowie is a legend. Please do some more of his songs. Most reactors start with Space Oddity, which you can't go wrong with. But there's so much more over his 50 year career. My personal favorite is Station to Station. The live version from 1978 edited by Nacho you can find easily on KZbin is stunning.

They made the record together whilst in Montreux where Queen had a studio and David happened to be in the country, they had lunch a very long one and went into the studio and just made this up, although the deal was they didn't listen too what each other sang and this was the result. The song you heard was the record, and it's Fred at Wembley ( old stadium) 1986 and Queen with David Wembley 1992 at the concert for Freddie and raising awareness and money for HIV /AIDS

Well at Queen’s live concerts Freddie obviously performs it without Bowie and I don’t really miss him. But having said that the studio version has Freddie singing this one really high note that he holds for so long and so high it almost sounds like an instrument instead of someone’s voice. In live performances Freddie didn’t go that high to save his voice.

This is the original studio recording laid over a video mash-up of two different concerts. In the studio was the one and only time they ever sang it together. They never once performed it together live.
