Day Two on the Road | East to West Coast Road Trip

I took the Bonneville for a 1,000 mile round trip from my starting location in Ipswich, on the east coast of England, over to Cornwall, on the far west coast of the country.
I split my trip into two days, with this, the second day, heading off from Sweet Hill Farm Camping in Dorset, to Cornwall. After a night of motorcycle camping, I woke up in the pouring rain, but hoped for better weather, with the aim of reaching a cool biker hangout by lunchtime.

Another lovely film Freddie, you manage to take your enthusiasm, your delight at being on a bike and transmit it straight though the screen. There's no real drama, no bigging up the adventure, just the sheer joy of being out for a ride in a delightful part of the world. An idea to mull over as the nights draw in, I'll call it Riding With Freddie for now because it's far too early to think of anything catchy - small group tours joining you for a day, a weekend of thoroughly pleasant, chilled riding through the best countryside Britain has to offer.

Perranarworthal ! Cornwall's a great place to be a biker, you can go to a meet every night of the week. The roads get pretty busy in summer and it rains for six months of the year but you can't have everything.

The only long trip i took on the TT600 was from Marlborough, NY to Yarmouth, Cape Cod, Mass (266mi/4hr.40mins). The Cape is a lot like where you went. Surrounded by sand and ocean and very New England! If you go, be sure to eat at Capt Parker's Pub. :)

A little tip here to avoid embarrassment, beware the long laces on your boots because as I have experienced one day one will snag on something without warning usually when pulling up at a junction as you attempt to put your foot down on the ground resulting in you toppling over. The sandy spit is pebbles. Chesil Beach. Quite steep but there is a decent dive there on a wrecked landing craft.

It’s so nice to see a rider discover the joys of bike camping. It’s the only way to travel. I just can’t get into using that little wingman tent. I guess after riding for 37 years I’ve learned to enjoy a little more comfort while camping on the road. I do love seeing England, it’s like here in America except for a 600 year old church on a hill in the middle of a field. Enjoy the ride back. Hopefully it won’t rain🤞

Love Dorset Freddie. That spit of beach by Portland is called Chesil Beach and is 17 miles long and if remember correctly the pebbles at one end are large then getting progressively smaller as you get to the other end.

You might enjoy your camping more if you ditched that awful bulky Wingman tent and went for some modern lightweight gear. I used to get a 2 man tent, self inflating mat, sleeping bag and cooking gear in a Givi E36 pannier. A 2 man backpacking tent will seem really spacious compared to the Wingman. Keep the videos coming, as I love the range of topics you cover and your positive enthusiasm.
