Talbot was at All Star game. He is the only UFA with a consistent record, every year (kind of like Provorov and Pesce at Defence, Boo Jenner at center), but of course aging so no more than a 3-year deal will be offered. It certainly helps with the cap. Easily the best cost-benefit.

I must again address the 'trade Marner for goalie' issue. Understand what a contract is, think of if someone ignored the IOU they signed and didn't pay you back. He has a NMC, you can't trade him. He decides if he will wave his NMC, and where he will go, not to places players are fleeing like CALG, SJS, AR/UT, StLS, etc. And playoff teams won't want him. And TOR would prefer to send him to WEST, and he would prefer to be near home. Now, if we look at a map, etc., Columbus stands out. The pieces they would be willing to give up are top six center/wing, 6.2, 30, 20+ goals, Boon Jenner, and top four D man Provorov, 30 assists, + 27 career average can play on PP and PK. With Talbot only 1-2 million, TOR has cap to 'bid on' a player like Pesce.

There a ton of UFA goalies that can handle 20 ish games but not many played more. Talbot is the only who played a lot of games ,I think he will get more then you think , probably 2.5 M . Broissot might be good not sure how many games he can play but under 2M would be ok. ,

That Leafs team just gave up on him with 2secs left to play, they didnt deserve for him to steal a gm7 for them & bcuz of that the Leafs definately didnt deserve to win that series. Everyone is assuming Marner is going to wave his No-Movement. If he says no the Leafs are SOL as fat as having enough cap space to sign a goalie that will take the to the next level. What the Leafs should be doing is to find a way to poach one of the Bruins goalies.

I'd try to trade for Saros. You know he's a workhorse and can steal games for you. Nashville has Askarov waiting in the wings and I don't think Nashville will re-sign him. I know Nashville is looking for more firepower, so maybe they'd trade Marner for him? You cannot trust Woll as #1 until he plays a significant amount of games without injury.

His numbers were 3.01 GAA and .896 save% last year. Those numbers are bad. His playoff numbers with the Leafs are almost identical 3.09 GAA .897 save %. A sub .900 save % is not acceptable in todays NHL.

Trade for Ulmark or Sign Sway.... who is an RFA this year. Boston tried to cheap out on him last year and he said he does not want to go to arbitration again this year. Its been said that the Bruins will have to trade Ulmark if they have to pay Sway what hes worth. Other than that they are better staying with Jonesy after seeing who else is available. Treliving will figure it out.

Here's what I would do ! LEAVE THE GOALTENDING SITUATION AS IS.. dO not sign sammY. BUT SIGN AGAIN JONES with a $500,000 raise with wins and shutout bonuses. $5,000.00 for each. Run with 3 goalies giving Woll the bulk, Jones the next load and Hildeby introduced to NHL ACTION. Sammy Solongsamonsovv lost crucial games that mattered without him we win more games right off the bat.
