That's a good tip, I didn't realize the step sequencer had drawable LFO curves. Also a fun hack: you can also use the MIDI LFO tool on audio by routing the audio to a bus and from the bus to a Quick Sampler instrument track in Monitor mode - that way, it treats the instrument track as a MIDI instrument. That gives you a lot of the Xfer plugin's capabilities.

Nice! Although I LOVE getting new plugins I think the most important kinds of effects the LFO provides is the gate and the filter. With what you've shown here I can get all that I need with this Step FX plugin from Logic. At this point I will not be buying the Xfer tool but I am definitely going to keep it in my wishlist for later. Thanks for all you do!

Thanks! Great vid! One question: Is it ok use gate mode as a sidechain? (It looks like Kickstart to me) Im new to production, so I ask before I buy Kickstart
@GoMakeMusic3 жыл бұрын
It’s possible but it might have some limitations. But just use what you have for a while then decide if kickstart could be worth it.
@7sunami3 жыл бұрын
Kickstart only has 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, and 1/8 sidechain and you can only use presets. If you're looking for any other type of sidechain (1/16, 1/8t, etc.), then this is what to use. It is possible to recreate Kickstart presets in Step FX so maybe just find a screenshot of kickstart and save the money, or download the demo to analyze the sidechain further.

StepFx does not have a side chain option, neither does Modulator ;-( . Then you would need to use AutoFilter, but can be difficult to set up for the case to use it as a ducker. Logic does not have a plugin that can sent LFO data to a VCA to manage volume (not freq cutoff as in VCF !) to duck againts a side chain. you can with the LFO tool . Or you can use the compressor, but is not as presice.
@GoMakeMusic4 жыл бұрын
Yeah you are right. It’s weird that they haven’t set that up yet. I just use the Step Fx amp envelope to create “side chain like” effect with more control than a compressor. I will say that using in the platinum digital comp set to peak and max gets pretty tight. 😀
