Hi Reto! I'm one of the developers of Tower Escape. Thank you so much for playing! We're about to deploy a bunch of new features like potions, shields and creature special abilities. We were saving them to deploy this weekend, but due to all the demand, we'll put them in tonight. Thanks also to all of your viewers who have stopped by the itch page to play. Our long term goal is to launch of Steam as a proper roguelike with unlocks, progression and hats. There will always be a free version on itch, though. P.S. Tower Escape is a working title, based on the original version Tiger Tower Escape from TigerJ(am)3. So don't be surprised when it changes!

It looks awesome!!! The features you mentioned will be great! Also maybe passive upgrades to add some decision making, having to decide whether it’s better to add more units or upgrade existing ones would add more depth. Or you could combine two of the same unit to get a level up.

I think a refresh button in the shop could work wonders as well. I could cost money or even be a item that can be picked up. Another thing is a good troop leveling system potentially with exp lying on the ground as well. Lastly I could also see main characters to be a thing. One might add spells that can be cast during attack another maybe drops potion on the ground that can be picked up an boost stats or do something else and lastly on could add a Crossing that splits troops up. I personally thing that game has great potential

The floors weren't actually repeating, they were going down. Remember you started at the top of the tower and were making your way down, so Floor 1 would've been the final floor unless there was a Floor 0.
@mikefictitious2 жыл бұрын
Floor 1 is fact the end. Endless mode is coming!

Dangit Reto, so close! Its another case of the viewer having more luxury to look around than the person who is actually trying to pilot the game. I was able to see that he started on a high floor and then was moving downward, but only because i wasnt actively trying to record a KZbin video and put out content. I would have seen it if i was playing the game for the very first time, but id also probably spend 1-2 hours getting to the same point that he did in 40 minutes. So again, that’s a luxury we have as viewers and casual gamers versus somebody whose gotta pay bills with these!

I think it would be cool to play a game like this multi-player. One person is the defender and one is the attacker. Obviously that would take a lot of balancing, but the final product would be cool.
@StonedtotheBones132 жыл бұрын
One of the cool things about devs starting to notice you more is that you play/follow a lot of indies. And that often means devs who haven't had as much exposure. And I love that the community piles on the love (and that we're getting big enough to do that!).
@mikefictitious2 жыл бұрын
We have done a few gamejams, but have had basically no exposure before this. After publishing the first release of Tower Escape, we made some reddit posts that generated a few plays. Then less than a week later, Reto opened the floodgates on us. It has been great having so many eyes on it and providing feedback (good, bad, we'll take it all). It's also reassuring to know that our instinct to continue development on this after the gamejam was right.

From what I could see the cool down is the time between when that unit spawns and the unit after it. Like Rocky has a cool down of 15 meaning once he spawns it will be 15 seconds before the next unit spawns. So you would want to have him spawn so that he would be taking the brunt of attacks while the other units run by.

I really love seeing games like this. There is so much potential here and the devs seem really passionate about this project. Yet another game that I am highly interested in.
@mikefictitious2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. We’re blown away by the surge in players. We weren’t expecting anyone to find us yet! We’ve been doing game jams off and on for a few years. Our goal has always been to continue development on the best ideas we’ve had. When Tiger Tower Escape was submitted, it was obvious we had something fun with tons of potential, so we got back to work.

@@mikefictitious Well, I'm really glad that Retro decided to feature your game here. Its so awesome to find the projects with real passion behind them! I also agree with Retro and think that this could be a runaway success and create another great genre. I wish you all the luck with this game and I will be following the development closely!

Abilities will truly bring tons of fun into the game, actual builds and such things, maybe bosses (?) There's so much cool things you can actually think of, like flying monster with different path and they can ignore walls, healers, summoners, buffers, debuffers, matreshka monster(they die and someone spawns), monsters with temporary invisibility, teleport, immune to certain towers for example, I can't wait for full release, definetly will play this:)

having some more interaction after hitting play, like being able to interact with the units whilst they are making their way to the end, casting spells or something could be cool too

Spells are on the roadmap. In the meantime, you just have to sit back and watch the carnage.
@belian59282 жыл бұрын
Don’t try to force every idea into the game. Personally, I like the idea that you set up your path and army and just let it ride. Keep the difficulty focused on starting tactics and not mid-run reactions.
@mikefictitious2 жыл бұрын
@@belian5928 We were already planning them to be limited in scope (extremely rare, one-time-use). We're not trying to create an idle-clicker or an RTS. The game is very raw at this stage, so no idea is too crazy. OK, some ideas are too crazy.

The minion abilities in the new build we just posted has a lot of different unit interactions. Having a lot of little dudes can be beneficial for certain builds now. But this is an excellent suggestion and it's going on the roadmap. Thanks!

I wasn't lying when I said it was in the dev build waiting to be published :) Everything we were adding made the game easier, so we were in the playtesting/balancing phase when the video dropped. A few thousands new players meant we needed to deliver sooner than we planned while we still had everyone's attention. I'm hoping he'll come back and try it again when we get further along. Not a game designer but think minions should be permadeath so it's risk reward if you get treasure but lose minions in the process, makes later levels harder

They are. When you're doing prototyping and game jams, it's helpful to start with preexisting assets, whether free or cheap to license. We're thankful for the artists and gave credit them on the itch page. It is our intention to redo the game with custom art before we charge anything for it.

I can already see the snake aspect becoming a little repetitive and annoying. Hope they come up with a different system or something so it doesn't become extremely tedious. That being said, the game looks awesome
@bensarsgard75822 жыл бұрын
This is a great point and preventing it is one of our main focuses. One idea is to give the snake some things they can do like move or drop items, or alter the level in various ways. It does also get a bit less tedious in later levels where every tile matters and you have to plan things carefully to survive. Thanks for your feedback!

We did not. The visual assets come from a few artists on Itch.io. They're linked at the bottom of the game page in the Credits.
