I’m so glad that they’re actually doing this. I skipped out on 4 because I was sick and tired of the subscription service. I really hope this becomes standard for all the next TSW games

What I am going to do is get the free starter pack, move everything from TSW3- TSW5 and wait to upgrade when DG ads something good for the US players.

My plan is to get the free upgrade then get the base routes via humble bundle or during the summer sale (for 8€ if there is the same reduction as last year)

By the time it’s summer sale, tsw6 is probably gonna be out soon, but yes same I might wait for a humble bundle as they are usually way cheaper and includes a bunch of other dlcs

that is the only way to profit from this. but if you wait till then you probably will get tsw5 for almost no extra cost aswell if you get a bundle so there is actually nothing for free its just a cheeky and very smart marketing strategy

So get the free starter then wait for the routes to be on sale at a discount. Have to wait a few months but still cheaper. Conductor mode will only be available on older content where it is already programmed, such as the 323 on Manchester-hadfield-glossop in that one scenario

Where conductor mode is a brand-new feature I can see it only being available on new content for now. Implementing it on old content is probably not as easy as just turning it on - they would probably have to open it up on their end and change something internally, and given the amount of old neglected content on TSC dating back to at least 2012 that they've never brought up to modern standards this is probably how it will be unless they update conductor mode to be compatible with old content sometime in the future. Going forward I would love for TSW to be like TSC now where you get the tech upgrade for free every year since you already own the base game. I haven't been up to date on TSW for a while so I'll likely take them up on it.

Conductor Mode only applies to TSW 5 select routes and locos. If this feature matters to you on Day 1, you have to purchase at least the slightly cheaper regional edition or all 3 core routes in the standard bundle. So for those who already own past TSW collections, you aren't really missing out anything important with the Free Starter Pack.

My plan is to purchase either thr Deluxe Edition or the Special Edition of TSW 5 for my PS4 on my Birthday on November😊 BUT!!!! I only and I ONLY. I repeat. I ONLY. Will be purchasing British DLC's trains, locos and routes. ONLY. I'll ONLY be purchasing the UK Regional starter pack + WCML, the Class 390, Class 350 and anything that's basically British🇬🇧. ONLY.

The new Fast Travel feature is also great for hunting down collectibles if you are so inclined.

I’m happy we get a free starter pack because I have been on train Sim All the way from 2 watching crazy but getting a free starter pack is good for everyone but we’ve got to wait and see what the game is like

I play on PS4 and I got TSW 1, 2, 3 & 4 and I love this game and I got 70 add-ons (I literally got all the British routes and British add-ons). I got every single British loco, every single British train, I also got a couple Austrian, German and US locos and trains and I got one Swiss route too. I basically got 70 add-ons

The lack of this was what put me off TSW. With TS Classic we've had free core updates every year, and the option to buy the new year pack just for the routes included.

It will also be good to give us new players a chance to try this game before we buy any totes it may also help bring in new players like me

As a british ps4 player i like the idea of upgrading the version for free. I am still on tsw3 as i got that for just £8 in a sale with the routes and i only buy add-ons when they are in sale. Constantly upgrading for £40 is ridiculous there are better games out there that give more content for that price. Dovetail need to make this free upgrade available all the time and on every version and just sell add-ons. I would like the Blackpool line but being on tsw3 means even if it was on sale i wouldn't buy it. Its a bad business model to make your products purchasable only in a specific way. Make the core free like this but for ever and lets us pick what we want to buy in add-ons to have fun. I am sure the American players are underwhelmed by the core route in this years pack, but if a later third party sells a good route why should they have to buy a route they don't want? This is what put me off tsw4 as the ecml section picked didn't interest me, and I wasn't going to pay £40 to be able to buy Blackpool branches.

I am going to get the free upgrade, because it is free.... 😅 But until I actually have the funds to buy any TSW 5 content, I think I'll just keep playing TSW 4. I do plan on buying the new German route probably later this year, so I guess that will be fine for now.

I checked if there was a free upgrade for Train Sim World 5 and on Playstation 4, it says that its £59.99. However it says that its coming on the 12th September 2024. I have Train Sim World 2020 Classic. Do you know anything about that?

Big win for me, at TSW2. I get up to date in one swift stroke and can get any of the routes from TSW 3+4+5 individually, if and when I want more routes.

Why is there a time limit on the free upgrade in the first place? I'm glad it is free though because I only just finally bought TSW4 Deluxe last month because it was only 8 quid, having totally skipped TSW3. If this was another certain British games company (hello to them...) it would just be another huge upgrade and not a new game. Wake up DTG, you aren't EA Games, we don't need a new game every year like the way we get a new sports game every year like Madden NFL or NBA etc!
