When I first got my machine, my Doc set me at 8-12. I felt like I was breathing thru a straw, and I looked at the data and saw I went to 12 within minutes of falling asleep. I changed it to 12-20, and things have been great. At my 30 day check up, my Doc looked at my data, and made a comment about how good he did setting up my machine. I didn’t say a word.

LOL, yes, mine set me up at 4-20 which worked ok until I found that the 4 should really be higher. Thanks to a YT clip, I discovered how to change settings. I doubled to 8, and only last eve I lowered the 20 to 15. This way I hope to live with the fact that only after 2+ years my heater system nixed itself and that a replacement heater still doesn't work. Also the projected 7+ years of use before $800-$900 total replacement does not hold true in my mind, but if I can reduce my dry mouth and dried out eyes with lower pressures, so be it.

You saved me. My machine has been giving me a headache and my ent suggested reducing the max pressure. Here in Denmark they do it remotely from the hospital. Really like your videos..do want to make a comment about t6e ramp features. I was first diagnosed in 2016..First machine recalled Phillips . My first experience with the machine was at full pressure and could hardly stand it. Almost turned me off to CPAP therapy. Covid came and I was off therapy about a year and a half and then my recalled unit was shipped back to Phillips and. Ow lost in their warehouse. Now I do agree that after you adjust to script pressure turn off ramp. But I did find and some of my acquaintances found using ramp helped during adjustment period.. About a week and then I shut it off ..

Heads up on humidity. I had an ear problem as a teenager. At 50 years old I turned up my humidity thinking it would help with dry mouth. I ended up with too much moisture in the ear canal and had a serious issue with vertigo while driving turning my world upside down. Thank goodness my wife was with me and able to grab the steering wheel. SO, don't go nuts on humidity levels... Also, I am overweight and by the time I change into my night cloths and remove my socks I am out of breath as a COPD patient. I feel like a fish out of water with the damn Ramp turned on.....I want/need full steam ahead when I first crawl in bed. Thanks for great video...

I'm one of those people who needs a ramp. With a pressure of 6, I will fall asleep in 15 minutes. If I start it at near 12, I just won't fall asleep. I end up reading to fall asleep. So my ramp is set for 20 minutes and by the time I've fallen asleep, it has slowly ramped up to my best setting (which is around 12). 6 years on, still need the ramp. Annoying but thankful for the setting!

Until I saw this video, there was no way for me to change my settings. You’ve been very helpful. I have turned it down and set it on airplane mode so they cannot monitor anything anymore. I am beyond my 90 days and I’m complied completely in order for the insurance to pay for my machine. I’m also going to contact my insurance company and make sure that they are no longer being paid to monitor my machines since they don’t have access to the data.

Thank you very much for the content. I have one of the affected Philips recalled APAP machines (System One) and was looking for APAP replacement. The ResMed AirSense 10 APAP looks like a very good candidate. Great explanation of the clinical settings. I like that it works with Oscar. How does the ResMed AirSense 10 APAP heated humidification compare with the Philips Respironics REMstar Auto System One? I use a non-heated hose with a heated humidification setting of 1. This heated humidification setting has worked very well with me.

Jason, thank you for this channel and this video was such a home run for answering some of the questions I've been having lately. I've been using OSCAR now to track my data and trying to get to the bottom of the past few weeks all of a sudden in APAP just not working well for me any more. My O2 drops so often in the night now that I'm constantly getting warnings on my lookee oximeter ring. I had recalled in one of your previous videos having you say you didn't care for the EPR setting because of messing up the CO2. I'm definitely trying the CPAP mode with no EPR tonight and watching the OSCAR data in the morning to see how I respond. I had the sleep study last night but I have to wait TWO WEEKS before the doctor has time for my what to do next appointment!! Meanwhile, my days are just complete exhaustion. I just wanted to THANK YOU for this super timely video. It was exactly what I needed right now. Definitely supporting you in one way or another for your hard work in educating us! I'll be signing up for the OSCAR review for example if I still remain stumped on what to do next. More soon! thanks again!

I just paid $2,200 for my airsense 10 in july '23. The air mini which I also bought was $1,300. I like the mini the best and can change all the settings on the phone. The data is nowhere near enough but I've set the therapy based on the pressures used each night and I set the minimum and maximum pressure based on those. It's finally getting comfortable and the events are around 1 or 2. At least I'm up from 60's sats to mid 80's so there's still some tweaking to do.

The only time EPR should be used is if you have an underlying neuromuscular condition that effects respiratory function such as muscular dystrophy or spinal muscular atrophy. Because it actually stops the person from exerting too much energy when breathing. Also people with these types of conditions are at risk of a build up of co2 in their blood which means that they enter into an acidotic state.

This is great. I have had my Resmed for just over a month now and it has been a life changer. Up until now I have been under the thumb of my supplier and doctor. Personaly i recomend the Ramp mode because usually the maximun preasure you need to avoid apneas is not cormfortable in the begining of sleep cous its high and its not well tolerated; so depending on how quick do you fall asleed you can program the ramp time. You should explain how the algorithm of the autoset works, cous it doesnt work for me y feel better with CPAP mode, but i dont understand why.

Feels like I cannot exhale, which I am guessing is related to lasting lung issues from covid. I know you stated the EPR is best to be left off, which is what my doctor has it set at, but I was thinking about turning it on and setting it at 1 and see. Have you heard of anyone else having an issue like this after covid? I did not have a severe case of COVID ( had a total of 5 Pfizer shots due to Afib wanted to minimize the effects when I caught it)

The MyAir app can be used on your iPhone or Droid cell phone. The SD card is if you need store the data to take it to a doctor, want to save it separately to keep, or need to put it on a computer somewhere. It’s not really necessary if your doc is connected by WiFi. Even without it, the S10 has WiFi built in and goes to your provider & the DME co. automatically if they have it programmed correctly. I didn’t set any of that up or use an SD card, & both my pulmonologist & DME co. already had the info. The S10 keeps the data for a year, but I may still get an SD card to save the data on for myself.

Way over my head but interesting. Mr Bill was way out of left field (at which point I thought is this guy crazy). I've been on cpap for 4 months! The first 2 were hideous, sleep deprivation. But I stuck with it. NO MORE SNORING as loud as a vacuum cleaner! (I'm serious) BUT, I'm starting to wake up with a dry mouth, an indication that I'm SNORING. Have no idea if I'm SNORING because I live by myself. Apnea's are below 1. Confusing

Quick question. I switched from the F&P Vitera full mask to the ResMed AirFit N20 nasal mask. When changing the settings, the ResMed AirFit N20 info. said to set it on “pillows” instead of “nasal”. Any particular reason why? It’s a nasal mask, not the nasal pillows that go in your nostrils, so that didn’t make sense to me, but I put it on “pillows” like it said. Also, where can I find & get “Oscar”? The AirSense 10 manual says it includes an SD card, but it doesn’t come with one, do that didn’t make much sense either.

Question regarding EPR. Who decides what the settings should be? I see on my first sleep report they recommend APAP min 5, max 16, optimum seems to be 11 according to titration. Nothing about EPR yet my machine is set to EPR ON Full time, level 3. Wondering why it’s set this way and maybe this is why I am not tolerating CPAP after 4 years of compliance. Also my machine was set to max of 9, so I changed it to 16 per sleep study.

Lately I wonder how much an advantage an ASV Resmed has over an Autoset Resmed, given the former costs almost 8 times as much! Does the ASV do more thorough analysis of sleep states and breathing monitoring?

I am 3 months into therapy with the resmed airsense10. Going well. Is there a way to get the data or access the detailed sleep data, without an sd card, via wireless? Like the clinic apparently does. I am using an sd card to retrieve the data but I was hoping for a wireless solution, cause sometimes I forget to put a card in and.....oops. Thanks! (thumbs up/subscribed)

So I'm relatively new to this machine and have only used it for about 3 weeks. I'm not familiar with Ocar or the wave form plot that he is referring to. I would like to understand more about this.

can you explain the therapy selection of what is best to use ? (cpap, S, vauto). my doctor set me up on 18.0/12.0. at 18 it keeps blowing my mask off. i reduced the high pressure to 17.0 and it seems better, with leaks every now and then. my current AHI is 1.8. think i would benefit by even reducing high pressure to 16.0 ? (i have the resmed aircurve v10 auto)
