Freediving scallops in dark water

Harvesting top quality scallops from a ranch in the far north of Scotland by freediving. There had been a lot of rain on nearby mountains which caused the water to become very dark. Diving by torchlight, was much more like a night-dive. Excellent fun and adventure!
These scallops are gathered from the wild by scuba diving, then left to grow in a special patch of seabed with ideal conditions. As they reach harvest size they also reproduce, providing a fantastic source of new scallops for the future. This an excellent example of sustainable fishing / aquaculture.

Fair play Tom, inspirational stuff again! Plunging head first, down through those dark murky waters, takes courage😬. The viz looked slightly clearer deeper down, but deffo a torch job. How deep please & at what state of the tide? You truly harvested a banquet, though😋.

Thank you! You’re right it was a lot better deeper down. This was about 8m deep on a mid ebbing tide

Hey Tom! That looks amazing and love how you present the scallops. Do you know the name of those golden trays underneath? (though with my skills I hardly fill one of them!)😄

Not sure what they’re called - I was given them. I think he gets them in bulk from a trade supplier. Sorry can’t be more help
