World's Most Dangerous Roads: Deadliest Journeys Siberia's Lake Baikal (2011)
Deadliest Roads - Mexico: • Deadliest Roads | Mexi...
Every spring, the arrival of the icy mists of Lake Baikal signal the start of a dangerous voyage. The men of Kholodnaia begin their treacherous journey to carry supplies to the reindeer breeders in the high Siberian plateaus. For the past 6 months, the plateaus have been completely cut off from the rest of the world. Even in Spring, the icy conditions and dangerous terrain mean it will take over two weeks to complete the 65 km journey.
Dimitri is the only man from Kholodnaia with the sufficient skills to drive the truck. During the journey, he must dodge bears and cross crumbling bridges and glaciers. Temperatures outside the truck reach -20º and, if anything goes wrong, it’s unlikely anyone will come to his rescue.

Every Spring, the arrival of the icy mists of Lake Baikal signal the start of a dangerous voyage. The men of Kholodnaia begin their treacherous journey to carry supplies to the reindeer breeders in the high Siberian plateaus. For the past six months, the plateaus have been completely cut off from the rest of the world. Even in the Spring, conditions and terrain are icy and dangerous. The trip to deliver supplies will take over two weeks - it's a distance of 65 km. Which on the highway, takes 45-60 mins. Wow. I mean, just wow. What an adventure. We take the trip with Dimiti and his pal Sergei: Dimitri is the only driver from the village of Kholodnaia with the skills needed to drive the truck. During the journey, there are bears to dodge, crumbling bridges to navigate and glaciers to traverse. Sometimes the several feet deep snow covered roads have to be laid out with pine needle branches, trees which have to be felled first - along a stretch of 3 miles. That alone takes 1-2 days of work before the journey can be continued. Outside temps: -20 and if anything goes wrong, there's no AAA or similar rescue service to call. They're on their own. Available worldwide #freedocumentary

@@bluemoondiadochi the cost, a mitsubishi hino cost around 25k usd here and they built a factory here so no shipping cost, easy maintenance and aftersales services. A kamaz or ural would cost 30k then you add the import cost, tax and everything else. After all those things you need to import any spareparts you needed for maintenance. Its a beast for sure but a bit costly for SEA atm.

@bluemoondiadochi 2 жыл бұрын
@@davidtogi5878 i just said its the best truck we've seen so far on deadliest roads. and this i stand behind. i didnt say anything in this comment about importation or price comparisons. sure, Hino might be available "here" (weherever you might be) and it likely has a more economical diesel engine BUT it's not available, say, in Cameroun, or in Guayana, or in dozens of other countries with horrible roads. so you have to import them and this applies equally for soviet trucks. you mentioned new trucks. i dont think a lot of people in africa buy new trucks. they buy used ones. and in case of russian trucks, you can tap into a large pool of relatively cheap used soviet trucks all across euroasia. something you cant do with japanese trucks in same numbers.
@davidtogi5878

@@bluemoondiadochi you mentioned south east asia (SEA) so as a person from that region i share my thought of why russian trucks are not used around here. Although most of us admire & praise the photographers who had spent night & days w/ them to get those momentous footages in the face of some adverse conditions, not too many of us comment on a script writer & rarely if any on a narrator who delivers it so effectively that he seems to enhance a wealth of intrigue, thrill, & excitement. The way he narrates w/ that a rather low-pitched & dignified confident tone of voice is perfectly suited for this sort of documentary, or it might be too boring to watch!?,,,,,I wonder if anyone else feels the same,,,,,,Many thanks, soundly enjoyed & appreciated it to the core,,,,,from California,,,,,(06/17/23)

Yes, I was thinking the same thing and also dreading my job which is only 5 minutes from my house. I live in luxury compared to these Siberian men. Shame on me for taking my living conditions for granted.

Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent motion photography pictures 📷 enabling viewers to better understand what/whom the orator was describing. Special thanks to veteran drivers/delivery customers. Sharing personal information/driving 🚗experiences. Separating genuine facts from fiction. Making this documentary more authentic and possible. Ice fisherman had an interesting conversation. Along with the big game bear hunters. Resourcefulness is the key 🔑 to survival dealing with emergency situations. Video crew/interviewer did a very professional job.
