When I use the word 'consciousness' I'm referring to that essential, irreducible presence and substance of yourself, so if 'energy' would suit you as word with the same definition, then sure go for it. Whatever word works for you. That being said, in my book, I tend to use the word 'energy' to describe the movement of experience that takes place within Consciousness, the shakti that appears within Shiva, the manifestation that arises from the unmanifest.
