Yeah the anime did that interaction so much better. She had a chance to stop emma by cutting the ropes but didnt because she truly wants them to survive. This is one of the few things that is done better in the anime besides actual animation and glorious scenery

There are similarities between Isabella's and Emma's lives. Both lost the person they loved, both girls were smart, joyful and athletic. But Isabella like Ray has a weakness of giving up really fast. And she chooses a different pathway, to survive and live as a human the demons cannot eat. Ray too gave up in a way but his goal too was to die as a human the demons couldnt eat and made himself into a human of the highest value so his sacrifice would really hurt demons. Both mother and son and Emma has these interesting parallels

Non-spoiler explanations: First of... NORMANNNN *sob* *sob* i can't watch this scene with Ray and him.... -The key was a Master Key of the house (opens any door in it). It was already used to get the supplies -Women get inseminated via needle (there was a picture in the manga) -Not having infantile amnesia is a real thing (I have a variant of it, actually) tho it is really rare. - Pen is more important than you think - Mothers are not supposed to know who their child is. They are the main source of kids for the farm. -There is a theory, that in a note, that Ray left for Crone to find, he wrote about being Isabella's son. She even said "But how does Ray know it? Isabella even isn't supposed to know." But it is not confirmed

My belief is that they sometimes put the mothers with their children because they take the children away young enough so neither of them will recognise each other. Infantile amnesia is something that most people get but there are cases irl where people remember things from when they were born (and in some cases have memories from the womb)

Not to be a manga reader, but Isabella's scene during their escape is far more beautiful and strong in the manga, because we have her internal monologue and thoughts. The manga also showed Mom as a very much complex character from the begining, how she wishes for survival and actually does care about the children in a way. But I'll admit seeing Leslie animated destroyed me the sweet boy was so damn cute with his big eyes and freckles dammit

What strengthens the story is the fact that Mama's not a bad person either... she was a child that had to deal with a harsh reality and survive in the only way she could figure out how... And in doing so she had to warp her mindset around in order to cope with the decisions she had to make, saying it was good for them and that they all lived happy lives... and then when the day finally came when she no longer had to hold up that mask...? You see her for who she really is... a mother who just wanted to love her family but was never given the chance to truly do so...

The anime left out so many things that I hoped it would mention. They talked about the books, pen, and Mr. Minerva a lot more in the manga, and they mention dates and you can put it together and see that the latest the demons came was 2019. Please read the manga Zamber! please read it from the beginning so you can see some things that the anime left out. I just wish I could watch a reaction of you reading the book!

I haven't read the manga some sure someone might have said something but my theory is that maybe Ray ended up in her plant by mistake; I highly doubt that any of the mothers would keep the children that they actually bred, and given her reaction to Ray humming the lullaby I don't think she knew until that moment that Ray was hers. Like they probably took him away at birth and then through some bureaucratic goof-up he ended up in *her* farm.... Which is effed!

After finishing the show I read the Manga to the end of Season 1 and one chapter further. Obviously more thrilling danger and drama await our crew, but I gotta say it's probably better to just wait a year for the next season of the anime to come out. reading further ahead will just bring up more questions and make the wait for season 2 feel that much longer. And it'll be so much better to see it unfold fully animated and orchestrated to beautiful perfection like this season was.

Fun facts from this ep: - Butterflies in Japan represent love and family -As of now in the manga, it has been 1 year and 8 months. They're running out of time. But so much is going on. -Isabella became a Mom to live on for Leslie's sake. All Moms are required to be *artificially insemenated* and give birth. Ray remembers Isabella humming the lullaby during his as a fetus. That lullaby was what got her through this horrible world. The scariest thing is that they put her OWN child in her plant, knowing he would die by her hand. That's incredibly despairing. -If you don't wanna wait 7 months for next season, read the manga starting from chapter 37. Btw (SPOILERS BUT IDK. IT'S FOR NORMAN :) Norman is still alive, shown in chapter 74, titled "A special child". He is put into an experimentation facility and he aces every test they give him. But he does it all for Emma and the hope that he can her and everyone else. He eventually escapes and we meet him in chapter 118, Emma meeting his eyes the last panel there. But from there he becomes a bit scarier. He's more mature but Emma has a demon friend she doesn't want killed, plus she has seen families of demons that act like normal. She wants a world with a new promise of peace, but Norman and his adult associates (who are awesome), Ray, and everyone else have themselves set on destroying all demons. It's getting so tense
