Starting a Sleep Token song and saying “we’re removing the drums so let’s see you play it” is possibly the most difficult thing a drummer could do. I’m not even a drummer, let alone musician (just a serious music listener of all genres for over three decades now), and some of ST’s songs seem like an absolute NIGHTMARE to even attempt. This dude got a listen prior to, knows the band so is aware of their ways, and STILL had a difficult time. Shows how incredible they are as a band.

Yea my favorite ballet reels are when the dancer is talking about how hard it was and you can actually see them struggling to do something that they've done and practiced for days and months and years. That's why I want to see Matt Halpern do this. I've never seen that guy miss a beat or play anything that isn't insanely tasteful. This guy did great. I listened a lot to the last Sleep Token album and the drumming is really amazing. Even in the apparently simpler songs, the drums are colorful, full of different dynamics and have great musicality. Two is a monster, making through the summoning in less than an hour is a nearly impossible task, but he figure out it pretty well, considering the length and the odd structure of the song. Plus: looking him feeling overwhelmed made me realize that even great drummers can struggle sometimes! Really Awesome content Drumeo

I'd need a beer (or three) after that. Mad props to Chris for tackling a difficult song and not being afraid to be vulnerable with the mistakes left in at the end. As a drummer trying to learn plenty of progressive metal songs myself, and to also write my own, I would say that the self-pressure to get it exactly right is honestly harder than than the listening or performing process itself. Yo, Chris is a beast and picked that up pretty quick..you could tell the difference in the sounds because of how muted II's kit is will all the moon gel but I'm so hyped for the 19th what a freaking epic teaser at the end. Well done, drumeo.

A cracking effort, and cool to highlight how interesting the drums are in ST. Chris's playthrough of The Glass Bead Game is a real treat for anyone unfamiliar with his work with Plini

It's fascinating to see so many drummers of all levels be so self-critical. As much as I don't like it happening to anyone else, it helps. Because when I do it, I think back on how these great drummers, eons ahead of my skill level go through it too, and use that to try to get out of my own head and just play the parts the best way I know how.

Fantastic feel. It's all about the dynamics and accents which is something that some struggle with. That's the x factor that makes a great drummer.
