Freedy, putting some work in. Truly a songwriter's songwriter. Excellent.

Awesome! Kinda reminds of Joe Jackson? Another overlooked artist!

The thing about this song that struck me the most was the awkwardly positioned minor chord in the chorus. The bridge is all major then it drops. Unexpected. But really great arrangement.

Where is the minor? I thought it was G, C, D, all major? Or do you mean the Em that starts the "Do you want me now?" part?

Same. That E minor with the beautiful tone

I have had the CD since it's initial release. All I can say is AWSOME, SWEET and one of the GREATEST songs EVER written. Mr. Johnson is not a one hit wonder. The person who posted this comment has no credibility. Being a Professional Musician for over 45 years and possessing a degree in Vocal Music and Music Theory, I believe I have a little more insight to what truly makes not on a good song, but all of the many facets involved to write, perform compose and arrange a great song. This is not only a great song, everything Mr. Johnson has ever written has been fantastic. This is merely one of many great songs he has written, performed arranged and composed. My only hope is that I ( one day ) am lucky enough to see Mr. Johnson perform live.

Another of my favorites from the 90s. This song has such a beautiful melody. Don't think he wrote another song quite this good.

Jake Stevens I've listened to other Freedy Johnston stuff, but it didn't reel me in the way this song did. It's possible I didn't give it enough chance. What other tracks of his do you recommend?

+ScoobTube listen to the Never Home record...Western Sky is brilliant. These days, God forbid, one has to sit down and listen carefully. Freedy is not for everyone and I think most long time fans don't mind that.

Freedy is amazing I love If It's True off of never home.Blue Days Black Nights though for me is one of those rare perfect albums that blow you away where every song in a perfect world is a hit.

@ScoobTube Freedy has a ton of great songs I could recommend, but be sure to listen to "This Perfect World" and "The Mortician's Daughter." And listen to them several times each. The more you hear them, the more brilliant they become!
