@@v2skeeder 🤣🤣 I guess rough is relative, because 8-10 foot breakers and beyond is what we call rough around here. 6-8 foot breakers is "training the new guys" weather, and a 3-4 foot chop is considered slightly worse than flat calm.

@@v2skeeder Absolutely I do. Basically, chop refers to short steep waves generated by local winds, swell is larger longer period waves generated from winds far away. The term "steep" refers to wave period compared to wave height. 10 foot waves with a wave period of 10 seconds or less could possibly be called a 10 foot chop (but 10 feet is hardly what could be called short) and are far more treacherous than 10 foot waves with a 15 + second period. So, I have been in 9-10 foot "chop" (wave period of 5 seconds) in the Pamlico sound during a hurricane (scared shitless), and I've been in 12-14 foot breaking bar with a 16 second wave period (fun) also 12-14 foot breaking bar with an 8 second wave period (hairy but an adrenaline rush), 20+ foot confused steep seas in a force 8 gale(a bit hairy even in a self righting Motor Life Boat), and I've also been sailing aboard a 24' racing sloop in 18-20 foot swells (generated by a hurricane well offshore) on a nice clear day with 20kt winds (fun AF). Guess I'm saying that what passes for rough is relative.

IMHO that's one of rhetoric ugliest boats on the water, at least from any angle that shows the twin hulls. However, it did handle the rough water really well. Always better to prioritize performance.
