Tony, let me add something important: besides the tilting of the board toeside and jumping backward, I found it difficult to maintain balance after mounting, because of the momentum I kept rotating forward and fell (even with the minimum force I used to jump). What kept me from doing this was to bend my knees and do a small pressure downward before the tilt-jump part. Doing this way I could mount without the momentum (for some reason) and without problem. The same principle works for dismounting from the rail stand: I crouch, slightly throw to the board forward and land.

Ah, I think you're talking about the compress-decompress "weightlessness" I end up mentioning in almost every trick tip. That little bend of the knees helps so much with so many tricks. Did I not mention it in the video? I know it's mentioned in the sequence on the website: freestyletricktips.com/rail/toeside-rail/

@@FreestyleTricktips yeah, you do, in your site; I only watched the KZbin video. 👍🏼 about the pressure downwards, the more I do the better the land (maybe my trucks axis aren’t sufficient smaller than my deck). Thanks.

@@saulorocha3755 This is why I generally tell people to go through the site; not only is it better organised, but there's way more content on there and you can still watch the video through the embed, so you're not losing anything.

question - how many of these tricks could you do on a regular skateboard?
@FreestyleTricktips4 жыл бұрын
If by "regular skateboard" you mean "8"+ street skateboard", you could do most, if not all, of these tricks on it. The real issue is whether or not you'd want to. Street boards are designed for ollie tricks. They don't work very well for anything else. Have you ever seen someone do ollie tricks on a longboard? That's kinda what it looks like when people try to freestyle on a street board. It's clunky and more difficult than it needs to be. Most modern freestylers start out on street boards, but I'd highly recommend getting a separate freestyle board if you're serious about freestyle. It makes life much easier.

@@FreestyleTricktips I would get a proper board but I only have a normal street board. but over the yrs I have managed a few caspers and primos from time to time. there's a LOT of your trick tips that Im definitely gonna try out, especially that butterflip one, that was deadly! :)
@FreestyleTricktips4 жыл бұрын
Definitely don't get onto things like the butterflip without at least having a setup with skid plates on! Truck tricks without skid plates just mangle the end of your board up. I remember turning the tails of my last non-freestyle setups to stumps!

Make those look easy gotta get them down mate

Providing your setup is okay, you shouldn't have too much difficulty with this one. Get on it!

Freestyle Tricktips one to practice on the carpet lol

This trick looks easy, but it's a little bit scary to do. Every time I practice it I worry that I couldn't catch it correctly and fall
@FreestyleTricktips6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's why I always teach beginners heelside rail first - that has much more control. Sadly, there's no way to do this other than forcing yourself to get over that mental block and just go for it, which isn't the most helpful tip! If you're struggling with toeside rail, leave it for a bit and give the tailstop fingerflip a try - you're much less likely to fall off with those, but it gets you into the habit of jumping onto a flipping board and should help you build up some confidence.

Gotta do rail toe spins next to flow with this vid 😉

I don't do toespins on the toeside - I do them heelside. I've already recorded a fun trick to do from toeside though - that's why I had to get this one done!

Freestyle Tricktips I know you do them from heelside but you really wanna make that trick tip vid for them 😉

I'll put it on the list. Might have to relearn them first - not done them for quite a while now.

Freestyle Tricktips no worries I’m starting to get them nearly every time now starting to think head position is important to stop me going off balance
@FreestyleTricktips6 жыл бұрын
It's one of those tricks where everything has to stay in line or you're going to fly off the board. I'm trying to learn backside toespins while rolling and having much the same problem - staying centred is tough.
