I think someone at Shimano Japan baked too many Marijuana cookies and fed them to the engineering team. And to think, at one point I once was part of the Shimano development team. Then one day this little "Over Engineered Monster Front Derailleur" appeared. Thanks to you, I finally learned, in absolute detail how to sleigh that monster, "BUT GOOD"! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and again, THANK YOU.

I've used several of your videos, mostly for installing Shimano stuff, and you're always spot on. Park Tool are good on the fundamentals, but you always include the extra little details that help me understand why something might not do what Park say it ought to do. So it's about time I said THANK YOU!

I have a Ridley X Ride (Cantilever) Frameset, luckily I managed to get a complete original headset kit for it but it would be nice to know if these Framesets can be matched with Hope, Cane Creek etc and how to find the right headset. my problem is that when i have the drivetrain in the smallest chain ring (34t), and the rear cassette in the biggest cog (32t), I get chain rub on the inside of the front derailleur (closest to the frame). I let the L limit screw all the way out, so it applies NO pressure on the front derailleur at all, and it still rubs

@skyscraper5910
@skyscraper5910 4 жыл бұрын
@@scottkarwowski1144 So the new front hangers have the little bumpers, and it rubs on that. Essentially what I said was "well I guess I am just being a perfectionist and it will never be perfect" and settled for "a little bit of rub when in big cog front-small cog back" with "a little bit of rub when in small cog front-big cog back"

Older video but hopefully someone here still checks comments and helps me out a bit. I have this exact front derailleur. My setup has 52-36 chainrings at the front and an 11-28 cassete at the back. My chain seems to rub on this derailleur on both 52-11 AND 36-28 gearing which really baffles me. I can't unscrew the L limit far enough to eliminate the 36-28 rub nor can I adjust the H limit screw far enough for it to eliminate the chainrub in 52-11 gearing. Bike seems to shift just fine through the gears so it doesn't seem like a cable tension issue to me (also bike is new so I doubt that'd be the problem). Position of the front derailleur maybe? Some other screw I've missed that needs thightening or loosening?

I do everything step by step and for me result i perfect on R8000, except when front is smallest chainring and in rear last 2 smallest sprocket, my chain touch front derailleur is this normal? I read in some forum this problem on Di2 but my is mechanical. Thanks.

You will never stop it rubbing in that position as the chain is running at an angle it’s not designed too.

After reading the comments, I must be missing something. I switched from a 50x34 chainring to a 53X39 chainring and now I can't get my R8000 installed properly. The crank keeps hitting the derailleur cage when in the big ring. My bike shop has a 3 week wait, so it looks like I have 2 weeks to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I don't really understand the step where you say to push the tail of the cage inwards .5mm with your thumb.
