Very helpful video!, when setting the limit screw for the high and low is that set in just the first click position, or when it is too clicks, ie it drops to the small ring and then your click again and then set the limit? Thanks

Mate - you just saved me £199 on a set of ultegra shifters which my mechanic said I needed as he thought my left 105 shifter was broken. Turns out it was just the cable tension. I reset the front mech following your video step by step, and now my bike is working again! Awesome instructions. Thanks 👍

The 7000 is an entirely different beast to cable than any other front derailleur I've installed and owned. Without the video, there was no hope of being able to cable it correctly. Thanks for another great video!

I had 6500 Ultegra on my old bike and worked on it plenty of times with no issues. But this derailleur confused the hell out of me. Shimano instructions were even worse. Thanks for this.

My “fully set up and tested” new Contend AR1, bought online, had really bad chain rub in almost half of the gear combinations. Turned out the guide clearance and, crucially, the cable tension were completely out. Followed this video and shifting is now perfect! Many thanks. It’s a tricky procedure on the 105 compared to older designs.

I was about to cut the cable when I realized it would stick out into the crank arm, so I watched this through to the end. Glad I did. It was a very thorough job of how to install this FD, and as with all things bike, it is never as straight forward as you'd think. The one thing I wish I had seen before I opened the box was that there is a ferrule that fits into the body. I wish it were somehow attached because it was gone by the time I installed it. I improvised with another ferrule from the bike I disassembled to create the one I was building. Why it isn't just built in is beyond me.

Thank you very much for posting this. I recently realized I could no longer adjust my 105 front derailleur and purchased the R7000 to replace the old one. I typically would take my bike to my local bike shop for installation, but due to the Covid lock-down, the shop is closed indefinitely. Thanks to this video, I installed it the new one in about 10 minutes. Cheers!

I stumbled upon your video because I thought I had 5800 on my rb, But looking at the fd, It’s the same on the vid, Then I realized I had 7000 fd and rd and 5800 levers. Which was a new thing to me since I bought the bike used. And now can confirm that the fd was installed improperly because the trim function wasn’t working properly. Therefore more reasons to give the bike fresh cables and housing. Then set the front derailleur properly. Thank You so much for the useful video.

Very, very useful. Shimano's instructions are extensive but sometime quizzical in my opinion. Interesting the comparison of weights. I do that all the time when I upgrade a bike. Very often I find that new releases are NOT lighter. Adding features and adjustments obviously adds weight. In this case it is minimal but in others it's not. Thanks agin anyway. I just completed upgrading to the 105 R7000 and I am VERY happy. Super smooth. No issues in adjustments. It runs fine on all sprockets with either chainrings - But I will not do that on the road!

This was really helpful. Thank you! After a major struggle with mine I note a couple things that may help others. First the metal plate. The backing tape shimano provides is fairly useless. You have to be careful the plate doesn’t fall out or get twisted out of place by the adjustment screw. Once the thing is mounted it’s very difficult to see what’s going on where the plate is. Second, if yours is braze on, you might have to use heavy manners to keep the tail of the plate flush while you tighten the main bolt. Otherwise you may have your crank arm hitting the plate.

There is one more 2mm hex screw inside the mech, that moves whole mech in/out relative to frame. This was set wrong for me and no matter how low the Low limit I set, it touched the cage in lowest gear. You can see it if you look through the mech towards the seattube. Hope it adds to this excelent video. Thank you so much!
