These are just great videos Andrew. I love your calm, loving and gentle humour about a colourful and complex city. A shout-out to your camera person- nice work hiding the distracting hair fixing gal outside of the book shop on Pirate's Alley- it was hard to concentrate until you did that. It was actually great to see her put on the mask- a little public service vignette! Thanks so much- keep these great videos coming. I feel like you are already trying to figure out a Treme tour. I know it's a bit spread out to shoot but getting some Vaughans footage would be great!

The most important book for New Orleans history buffs is “Intimate Enemies: The Two Worlds of the Baroness de Pontalba” by Christina Vella. How the French Quarter was built is the saga of one of history’s bravest women. She invented pre-fabricated section building for her matched apartments on either side of the Cathedral which she had rebuilt after the disastrous fire lof 1788.

Hi, I just started watching your videos on You Tube this year and am hooked! I’m watching this one now and when you mentioned singing vendors in the French Market it reminded me of one trip we took to Nola about 10 years ago. We were leaving The Chateau Hotel packing up our car parked on the street and I started hearing a lady from a short distance singing and repeating “Pie Lady” “PIE LAAAADYYYYY” in a loud but lovely tone. Then she turned the corner onto our street and came towards us as we finished packing up the car. As she approached us with her cart, I asked her what she was doing - she was happy to stop and explained to us that she makes homemade pies and sells them in the streets Sunday mornings throughout the streets of the French Q. Then she said she was carrying on a tradition that her Creole ancestors had done for the past 200 years! Well, as you could imagine, I bought every pie she had left!!! She thanked us and said that we completed her day and she would then go home. I have tried to do my own research on her to see if she is still around but sadly can not find anything on her. Do you have any information on her? I would love to see a video on her if you do! OAN, I will be looking y’all up next time we’re in Nola! Y’all are wonderful tour guides and I’ve learned so much about NOLA and surrounding towns! Keep up the good work & God Bless! 🙏❤️ If you are able to personally respond to this pls email me at pjpc@rocketmail.com

We love Andrew as a guide and he is part of the reason to watch these videos for sure, BUT we are here to see the buildings and streets. Enjoy your videos. No one ever mentions Angel Heart when speaking about films associated with NOLA. Lesser-known movie, I know, but it always seemed to me that it dramatized the mythology of New Orleans very well. Anyway, again, appreciate your work. I always thought I was fairly well versed about the city, but you seem to always surprise me with information that reminds me that no one knows as much as he thinks he does. Peace.

The film “Hard Times” with Charles Bronson, James Coburn, and Strother Martin had scenes filmed in New Orleans. I’d like to see you cover that one for next time. I particularly like the scene where Speed and Chaney are haggling with each other on the balcony of one of the buildings which is unmistakably overlooking a street in the French Quarter.

I have a compliment and a complaint. First the compliment: I did not realize that the Madame Delphine LaLaurie scenes were shot at a simpler style house just down the street, wow. Did not know that. My complaint is you had me so excited with the interview with the Vampire stop at the beginning of the video but I was anticipating (hoping!!) it would be where Louis, Lestatt and Claudia lived. Not a house coffins came out of. All in all I adore you and if I weren't unemployed from Covid I'd tip you like a rock star ❤

I was lucky enough to shoot pool with Paul Newman when they were filming "Blaze" in the French Quarter on St Phillip between Royal and Chartres streets. I was selling roses for Bob Bridges (Bob the Flower Man) and we'd meet at a bar across from the garage where he kept the carts and roses. They were between shoots and Paul walked into the bar, saw the pool table, and asked if anyone had any quarters. The bar owner and then a waitress played a game with him, then I did. He's very good, but I was better (at least on that game, lol). Great memories living and working in the French Quarter in the early '90's. Chicken Man, Ruthie the Ducky Lady were friends of mine. Later got a job at Tony Moran's (above the Old Absinthe Bar) and waited on Frank Sinatra and Red Buttons one night.

The absolute best thing about CofD? It won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1981! AND was so deserving, you can not put it down and I promise you will come THAT close to peeing your pants, choking on your own spit, falling out of your chair, and just generally having the time of your life tween the pages of a book. How anyone with a tenth of a brain could have passed on this book is stunning. THANK YOU THELMA!! That was filled with many fun facts! I am amazed at how much Andrew knows about New Orleans and this subject Are the live tours really pay as go? How many people in group and how long? Is there a lot of walking? Thanks in advance.

Nice work, but you missed a trifecta at Esplanade and Chartres. In addition to the plaque in your vid, as commenters have mentioned, Cat People had several establishing tracking shots between Royal and Chartres featuring the Faubourg Marigny side, and the big house river side/ Marigny side , Esplanade and Chartres was the creepy home of Malcolm McLaren in the film which Kinski visits to her peril. Directly across the street, on the Quarter side lies ex-resident and owner Germaine Welles' (proprietor of Arnaud's) mansion. When she passed the place was vacant for a very long time due to ownership squabbles in the family. In 1987 Disney's Buena Vista production crew suddenly showed up to renovate the entire first floor in grand fashion for the film BLAZE, which starred Paul Newman and Joanna Woodward. Immediately after the shoot famous record producer and musician Daniel Lanois (U2, Dylan,Gabriel, on and on) established his Kingsway Studio there and made some very fine world class records. He did the beautiful soundtrack for SLING BLADE. Dan moved on after a couple of years and the house was sold to, wait for it... Nicholas Cage (he no longer owns it). I thought you might be interested. I saw all this go on, I lived at 628 Esplanade.

Here is one to add to your tour: “Cat People” filmed in the quarter and on esplanade. In your video tour, at esplanade and Royal the big brick house where the guys are working on the iron work, David Bowie filmed a scene for Cat People. Time code 21:00
