I’m nearly 100% sure you can put a different pokemon to sleep if the opponent already has a pokemon to sleep from Effect Spore. I know for certain the same thing happens if they use Rest, you can put another one of them to sleep yourself as well

​@@JaysonUbothe difference is rest is self inflicted sleep clause doesn't care about self inflicted status. Sleep clasue "Prevents players from putting more than one of their opponent's Pokémon to sleep at a time" It is cased so rest and if you're playing doubles even sporing your ally doesn't proc it the game tracks if a status is self inflicted or not

@@JaysonUbo I know effect spore had been cited as one of the reasons why sleep clause was controversial when it was implemented, due to everything thus far with showdown being technically possible on console aswell (you can agree on not using pokémon, certain moves etc.) but you cannot agree to not have effect spore trigger after one pokemon is asleep (or not click spore after encore for example), so it was the first (big) deviation from accurate cartridge simulation

Im not too smart in Pokemon, but i remember there being a rule that you can only sleep one Pokemon. In that third match, he tried to use sleep powder on the fezandipiti. But the Zacian was already asleep because of Effect Spore. Would that have worked or is there something im missing?
