Question re: the expanding cabin...Why? It expands into a bigger cabin for which you need to provide the footprint. Why not just buld a cabin the size of it when its expanded?

If part of the house is all glass it can be "inside" or retracted to use the space as an outdoor deck. Handy if you have the right weather.

My local regs in Las Vegas allow me permitless building of my shed so long as it is UNDER 200 ft2. 201 ft2 requires drawings and permits and engineering, and blahblahblah. If I want larger, Nothing says I cannot have a 2 meter door so I can roll my saw or machinery outside, and nothing says I cannot have the left half 2.4 meters square, and the right side 3 meters square, and when I pack up at the end of the day, slide the right side OVER the left, and meet the minimum size requirement. The 'resting' size is 3m2. They showed this to you today. I have been considering just how to build this for a few years. (Another solution is to have both of those sides together, then move my right side out, slide the roof between both sheds, and have one large shed while used, 2 nearby smaller sheds when closed. More difficult to break into as well. Open the outside door, find a wall.......?????)
@rupe53
@rupe53 Ай бұрын
@@MarkH10 we have similar rules on shed size, but also have restrictions on "footprint" or foundation. Some of the smaller properties will cut you short if the base is concrete due to rulings on percentage of non-permeable structure. (rain shed versus rain soaking into the ground) Building on piles with a wooden deck will get around that. We can have a pair of 100 sq ft sheds, then take it up with zoning for some sort of porch roof between the two buildings. It will depend on the wording of the local rule. IOW, enclosed versus covered. Not sure how they would deal with a solid / temporary sliding structure. Will probably require engineering and drawing to pass muster.

A normal hydraulic car jack is quicker and simpler. Using a normal hydraulic jack a tire change could be done by the time he got it all assembled.

Tis true. But after the initial investment, the robot doesn't need a salary, three shifts to work 24 hours, a lunch break, a cigarette break, health insurance, safety equipment, or worker's compensation insurance. Probably pays for itself in a year.

I have a miniature working version of the first one, based on a "Strandbeest" mechanical walker. It's pretty cool- runs on 2 AAA batteries, and is walking across my desk as I type this. As it walks along, it actually shows that, in terms of locomotion, the WHEEL is the most effective & efficient mechanical answer. This just *looks* cooler, and is ok as long as you only need to slowly walk straight ahead and never have a need to turn for any reason.

Made one years ago in the 60's. We used it outside though didn't have a garage back in those days. We made it atta 6" angle iron with iron stuck down into a slot in the concrete drive. It raised the vehicle about 8". High enough for us to get under it to swap out the oil filter, drain the oil. The thing just stuck up in the air when not in use back then nobody gave a rats about how the yard looked. This was in West Hollywood, FL. Yeah "West" has been deleted now its just "Hollywood" as snoots don't like the sounds of "West" anything. Oops.. I live in "West" Palm Beach.
