The most important thing he said, regarding Jazz cymbal time is it's a triplet feel. It's not the dotted 1/8 and 16th note notation that is seen on so many charts and in so many books.

WTF gave this a thumbs down? Bruce knows his stuff! Thanks Bruce! I've been playing a long time and studied a lot and at 50 yrs old I'm re accessing my French grip a bit, trying to loosen up even more but with intensity and swing.

Plus French grip is very good for blast beats too in metal.French grip is a very efficient technique to play fast.I personally use the French grip,not the American grip.I use to play American grip well only my right hand.Now I can play the French on both hand.I play French grip on the left hand for a long time.

Sorry for my English! Is it correct to say that the French grip is the grip more similar to the traditional grip? Because the weight of the arm is under the stick and because it has the balance point and the grip at the same point.

Bruce Becker how much time you spend everyday practicing french grip and how many months really working it to become faster coz my left hand kind a weak unlike my right hand actually im right handed A great appreciation of your respond thanks..

Working on French position would best be served with some solid direction! There are some subtle nuance to the position and certainly needs guidance to put it together.
