Some videos show loose end of cord running parallel with walking stick with cord wrapped over top hiding cord. Other videos show loose end staying at beginning of wrap to be cut and burned ? Hiding would seem to best option…your thoughts? This is referring to French twist. Also, when tying French twist why not just tie half hitches over the top of walking stick? Thanks, Steve Nelson/ “Five S’s Walking Sticks “

I've often used that for whipping the end of a line, but never knew what it was called... When I was in he Navy (MANY years ago), I saw that sort of decorative knot / cover on some handrails and such -- on the bridge and such... Often painted white or blue...

Yes, it does look good on the end of a line. When you are bored, you will cover everything that you can 😉 😉 😉

@@KnottingKnots -- Over the years, I have made quite a few short lengths of 1/4" hollow braid polypropylene line with eyes spliced on each end for hanging light tools, extension cords, and other objects in my garage. Typical eye splice for hollow braid -- form the loop and then bury one end into the other one -- nothing fancy... To lock the loops, I use braided mason line sewn through the inner and outer braids and then tied with an overhand knot on the front and back, cinching tightly at each overhand knot, continuing this for maybe an inch... I guess this would kind of be like having a square knot with a pole running down the center of it... I'll finish it off with a timber hitch or something and then use the needle as a fid to bury the ends (which usually end up being around 2" long) back under the polypro braid... I seriously doubt that I created anything new here, but I have no idea what the real name for it might be... These lines are not holding a lot of weight -- maybe a couple of pounds at worst, otherwise I would not be using cheap polypro line for it... With a MBS of supposedly 440 lbs and a WLL of 110 lbs, that's considerably stronger than what is really needed for this task... I'm more likely to lose the piece of line instead of wear it out... :)

Animals don't see colors the way we do. Hunters may want red camo to be seen by other hunters. (Red paracord wouldn't add much to that visibility compared to wearing an orange camo jacket/hat. But, if you're worried about being shot, every subtle hint helps.).

Actually, i was just tossing my own twisted idea out there. I am interested in all knots. I am caretaker for a Horse boarding stable in Indiana USA. With that, i get into some interesting situations that require knots. I am also just starting a side business of Tack and Saddle Repair. Keep the videos coming!

What is your go to knot for temporary hitching a horse up to a tie rail? About 80% of the time I use a Welsh mouring hitch, the other 20% a Highwayman hitch. Highwayman is perfect when I am going to want to untie while mounted, like when I am ponying multiple horses while riding one.

If you get the pints in, I will come over and show you personally.😉 I started a long time ago to "over explain" as I have one subscriber who is blind. He and his granddaughter follow the videos, he listens and she watches. He ties the knot and if he goes wrong his granddaughter corrects him. A lovely little bond must be growing between them?

Whenever you see a Turks Head, ask yourself what sins is it covering? The problem is that with this type of knot, unless it is for practical purposes, you can either neatly tuck the ends away or hide you sins. Glue does help if you do not want to TH. Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.
