I read a lesson which says 30% of French words are English , there is a difference in accent , add to this whoever speaks English fluently can learn it faster than the other languages speakers.

i speak portuguese and both languages has so many similar words, although what makes everything different it's the pronunciation, cuz even the meaning is the most times the same thing. In case of the english with french, i can realize that has a lot of words that is writted in the same way but means totally different in english.

It's due to the latin words which were introduced in the English vocabulary across the centuries. But Portuguese is closer to French, and has more similarities.
