This is what is hurting the resort more and more the death of entertainment at the resorts is clear and honesty it was one of the things i loved most. I have a friend who didn't ride all the attractions cause of back issues but enjoyed the parks due to the entertainment. We would meet up and watch all the shows and just have a good time. With all the entertainment cuts, my friend has not renewed their pass cause there is no value for them spending so much for a pass and not having anything for them to do at the resort except for maybe 2 or 3 attractions they could go on.

Wow. Disneyland have been severely lacking in entertainment since Covid shut down. This just puts the nail in the coffin for entertainment at Disneyland. Given that the rides are always breaking down, and there's no entertainment to draw crowds away from ride lines, the increase in prices, the math just ain't mathing. Make it make sense! Universal and Knott's here we come.

I was a member of the Magic Kingdom Korps back in the 90s. The group ran ‘91-‘98. I was also in All-American College Band, which was cut a few years ago and Disneyland Band is now “college band part 2”. They cut the fanfare trumpets and Royal Band from the Christmas parade in ‘95. There also used to be a group called The Bellhops that played at the hotel. They can’t cut rides, and they make big money off food and merch, so live entertainment (which can get expensive) is easy to cut. If they ever cut the Toy Soldiers I will throw hands!

One thing fans can do is cast member shout outs/feedback/ whatever they call it now. Let’s not all just whine on social media, but write in support of what you love. I believe it is all in the app now. In high school my friends and I were obsessed with bootstrappers. I found one of them on MySpace (ha) and told them how much we loved their show. They replied that the best thing we could do was write cast compliments. The next visit all 3 of us sat in City Hall and wrote up something. Anyways, David has a point- if no one shows they care, Disney will cut.

Thank you for the passion you show. You really study the queue and report on it. Much appreciated.
@doug201123 минут бұрын
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I think most folks would love to have more characters, more engagement, more kinetic energy. The real challenge IMO is that it’s just too crowded. Walking through the Galaxy’s Edge marketplace is elbow to elbow at times… not exactly an opportunity for Mando or Kylo to comfortably stroll. Roaming droids? They’d be static because they’d be bombarded - or let’s be honest, some of the younger Disney guests tend to use and abuse the Disney Magic. Think of how the queue was being vandalized for MMRR. For Avengers Campus, I wish they’d bring it all back. I loved seeing the characters walk around and treat it as their home. I had wished all lands had that kind of immersion, but Disney wants $$$ so more bodies means less space. At least that’s my takeaway.

Went to Disneyland on Tuesday 11/5 and the crowds were massive!!! On top of that the trains were closed, Indiana Jones was down most of the day. Tiana”s was down until late afternoon so didnt get to use my virtual queue option, canoes were closed, Mr. Lincoln still closed,and, of course, small world is closed until Christmas season. It was a Green Day-never again!

I have a reservation for the 27th, a tier 6 day, and I’m excited to see what the crowds will be like. I was there this last Tuesday (Nov 5th) and the previous Tuesday (Oct 29th), and the 29th was way less crowded, and it was a higher tier day than the 5th. That calendar seems to help when planning days to go to the park as a magic key holder.

Yo David, I appreciate the light nature of your videos. Thanks for keeping them consistent and dependable. Always a great way to distract myself from reality. I love the rose-tinted Disney I have in my memories, not the Iger version we're saddled with these days. Personally, I believe that the days of Disney theme parks being the top tier in theme parks was done when covid hit. Honestly I believe covid killed a lot of things we collectively haven't noticed yet. I bet live entertainment is tough for a lot of reasons, but it always boils down to money. And I think you're right that people generally don't care so much about that stuff anymore, or at least don't consider it as a necessity for a good time at the park. Personally I've always been the type that doesn't like to interact with paid actors in a role play type of way, but to each their own. I'm sad it's all slowly going away- the locomotion it added to the park will be missed. As a guy who went all the time in the 90s, the parks feel so empty and it's all just so bleak nowadays comparatively speaking. Disney brand escapism feels way, way more fake and shallow than it ever has, and let's be real, that's saying something. Maybe Universal can pick up the slack, but it's just doesn't ever feel the same. Great in it's own way, but not the same. Just my opinion. Anyway, hope you keep this going, it'll be good to document either the slow decay or the slow rebirth of the Disney brand. What will these videos look like in a year I wonder?

If the bottom line of the Disney Co became so tight that people like Iger weren't able to receive hefty pay increases, I might be able to figure out the reductions. By contrast, the Oriental Land Co in Tokyo (which treats its parks like crown jewels), since Covid is apparently still seeing issues with attendance & presumably income too. I'd give them slack. But Bob's/Kathleen's/Dave's/Kevin's Disney Co? Uh, sorry, no way.

You are right when you say all that interactive crap promised at Galaxy's Edge and the bit that was poorly implemented was not warmly received and most people didn't and don't care about such thing. You are _wrong_ when you say people don't care about shows, meet and greets and characters walking around. Most people love it. It's Disney that doesn't care. They care about profit and if they can charge you more and give you less then they will do it - as the increasing lack of entertainment demonstrates. It's a shame. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to experience the parks back when the guest experience was the highest priority. A happy guest, a guest that has an enjoyable experience is more likely to come back and is more likely to spend more money. Disney used to be aware of this. Today, the quality of the product they are selling has gone down while the price has gone up. If you could stick a Disney park in a box, wrap it up and give it to me for Christmas, like a little kid, when I opened it up Christmas morning I have no doubt that I would rather play with the empty box.
