Recently I bought a "ready to grow" mushroom kit but not sure if I am supposed to inoculate or trigger fruiting (and ideally how) - the seller said it's ready, but it's mostly still brown but I do see mycelium penetrating to the bottom One long looks like brand new and another was a little hard on top (like a left over mushroom stem, no I nick it off and hoping I don't mess it up) Anyone can give some pointer? I dont know if youre still interested, but on most mushrooms, the time to harvest is when the veil underneath the cap opens, as the spores that get released following that process can actually hinder further "flushes" of grown mushrooms. However, if you only want one flush or if you think it will be the last flush of the batch, then you can cut the mushrooms at their maximum size.
