Pretty sure you need to calibrate the humidity on that unit as well because it's dependent on temperature. To calibrate the Inkbird take a plastic bag, put a wet paper towel in it, then put the bag around the inkbird sensor and wait 24hrs (not longer because that seems to mess it up). Then set the inkbird in the calibration so it shows 99.9% Thats the best/easiest way I found and it works perfectly. Gives the exact same result as if you use the method people use for their cigar humidors where you calibrate at 75% with salt. Tried both methods and both gave the same calibration value.

Yeah, inkbirds accuracy is definitely not +-5%. They are worse than that. Would love to get an update on the quality of the co2 meter in this video along with how accurate is the humidistat. Thanks!

I have heard that a lot of mushroom farms starts with humidity sensors like the inkbird but they stop functioning properly and eventually they just switch to controlling the humidity with simple timers, in my experience i had and arduino with a cheap RH sensor that also started to malfunction by getting saturated and stuck on one reading so i also switched to a timer based system.

Yes, I prefer automation but have them on backup timers now

... why not use a micro vaccum pump and pull the air from the tent via a moisture trap then across the sensor (they do that in industry)

Thanks for the suggestion I am unfamiliar with this technique but will look into it!
I like that idea - might have to give that a try! 🤔

Hey Gary, nice video-- thanks for sharing. Do you ever measure O2 as well?

I'm on my second Inkbird too, I thought it was just bad luck but it sounds like the sensors are not very reliable.

Hi Gary. Thanks for the review. Would you recommend this device now that you've had it for so long? I'm thinking of purchasing it and I just need to know your updated opinion on it. Thank you very much. I'm starting a mushroom farm and I have learned a lot from you. I hope you continue uploading those informative videos. Much love from Jordan.

I haven’t tried a new brand! Using digital reset timers for now. The outtake fan is one minute behind the fogger. The problem with the inkbird is water builds up on the sensor but doesn’t evaporate quick enough so the humidity stat will read wrong. I’ve tried talking to the company about it but no luck so I returned it.

@@BobbyJpure Don't know about the inkbird but some sensors have a heating element that switches on to evaporate the water droplets when it gets saturated.

CMZ! Yeah I think the Inkbird is so cheap that they don’t include that. I think I paid $40 for it. Wouldn’t purchase the brand ever again. I think digital reset timers are easy and simple. Just have to dial them in!
