Interesting comment about the vibrato. On a guitar, to achieve vibrato, you would bend the string sligtly up and down (so left and right on a cello). You can only vibrato up, so its not the same as on a violin-style instrument

thx for this presentation. very cool. question about the frets: are they made of metal, like on a guitar? do they "eat into" (and break the outer winding) of the strings?

Thanks for the message! They look metal, but they haven't scraped my metal strings -- maybe because the cello strings are thicker than guitar strings? I haven't had to change strings yet (been since the summer 2023).

The concern I heard was actually that cello strings are designed for wooden, smooth surface fretboards and their outer winding is rather thin, making it susceptible to break when using metal frets. Good to hear that doesn't happen. btw, I much enjoyed your Jazz bowing videos - thx.

Is that cello on a tripod? Can you teach on a video how to do a vibrato for an electric cello on a tripod? ... I am trying to do it but the tripod kind of move too much... any helpful instructions would be awesome!...

WHY WOULD A CELLO HAVE THOSE UGLY FRETS! You know that you can have frets PRINTED on the fingerboard 😒
