You are not supposed to yell "cut away!!", because the other person may not hear if you are implying that YOU are cutting away or if THEY should cut away. You have to word it correctly without saying cut away, because under certain scenarios you need to utilize both fields of vision and communicate on who leaves first. If he yelled cut away and they both let go at the same time, being that close to each other, they could risk another malfunction.

@@patrickswayze2596 IMO, RSL's are good for students, and thats about it.
@Gaollenaer9 жыл бұрын
This goes wrong on so many levels... - I'm guessing this was a dedicated CReW jump, from the altitude they're at. That's good. However, there seems little preparation beforehand, since both jumpers have a camera (extra snag hazard), are jumping regular Freefall canopies, are both wearing camera's and both are jumping with their RSL's attached. If you're interested in CReW, at least talk to some experienced CReW dog. If there's none available near you, at least do your research online (dz.com, CREW dogs google group). - CReW under ordinary freefall canopies. Had they had a retractable pilot (or even a removable deployment system, if you must) Yellow Canopy simply would probably have bounced off Green Canopy, or missed completely. Now, though, you can clearly see Yellow Canopy getting entangled in Greens pilot chute at 0:17. Just practice proximity flying or bump end cells when you are a bit further along. Don't try to stack it up without proper training. - Only shout positive commands, and never ever anything remotely sounding like 'cutaway' (such as "are you okay"). That might lead to an even worse problem as the top cuts away an inflated main. However, Green Canopy is due some kudo's attempting to communicate and for deciding to cutaway when he realised that there seemed to be no communication. You can hear Green's shouts on Yellows camera, but not the other way around. - Yellow canopy clearly has their RSL still attached. At 1:56 you see Green leaving, with what looks like the bridle of their freebag already coming out. If you have your RSL still attached in a CReW jump, you run the risk of your reserve deploying before you have the chance to get away from the mess. Your buddy might fall straight into your reserve, complicating the mess they are in and possibly killing the both of you. - We cannot see what is going on above Yellows head at 2:21, but from earlier footage he has a (partially) inflated main above his head. There is a line caught up under his main lift webbing or his hook knife. Had he gone for his hook knife, the line from Green's main could have been cut, or would have cleared by itself. You do see Yellow using riser input to counteract the spin he's in - he's keeping his head. At decision time, he cuts away - good. But as indicated earlier, he too has his RSL still attached. RSL beats him to deployment and he never thinks to pull his reserve ripcord. That would have eraned him a serious kick in the behind from any S&TA, instructor, experienced jumper - or even student - worth their salt. So I'm gonna go and disagree with everyone else: I am *far* from impressed. All these guys did correct was survive this mess they got themselves into.

@chrisconkright92595 жыл бұрын
@@dbaplife4247 The yellow canopy was the only good canopy; chopping that would have been a complete disaster.If the yellow, top, jumper chopped they would have both basically gone back into freefall with the tangled green mess between them. That would be easy for the lower jumper to chop from, but it would leave the top jumper entangled in the green canopy and in freefall. Not a good situation by any measure. Although, this video would have been a lot shorter. ;)

Olympus Mons it’s not about how many times it ‘happens to you’!,, it’s about preparation! Touch and goes to begin with an slowly work your way into a CRW over time! I have done a 15 way CRW, but with 15 years, D licenced jumper, several thousand jumps, over 500 BASE jumps, and five years of Paragliding experience, this has NEVER happened to me simply because of what was explained is the main comment! Don’t talk shit about something you’re completely uneducated about! In acro Paragliding, we slowly work our way up to duel manoeuvres, touch and goes, slowly get closer and closer to one another, and we’re less then half that altitude! So it’s not about ‘has it happened to you’ that makes you experienced in that procedure, it’s about preparation so this didn’t happen! How many skydives have you done? And a tandem on the beach paid for by your parents fir you birthday doesn’t count bud!...
