I grew up in Harlem but I fell in love with the Lower East Side when I started working down there for the NYC Dept of Parks back in 1979-81 I love its rich culture and the lifestyle of the LES, I was working on Madison & Jefferson Street for those who know that area then I worked in Tompkins Square Park a very huge beautiful Square Park, its nothing like the LES.

I live not far from all of this and crossing East Houston Street has become a nightmare at every corner, as you say, even with the light. The bicycles don’t stop and sometimes the cars don’t either 😳
