I look forward to a time when society becomes more holistic and accepts and understands the body and mind as one, and new possibilities for healthier lives and expressions and lifestyles become more obvious...

He's not saying running alone will cure your weight problem, he's merely explaining the chemical process of respiration. This video does not make any claim regarding the psychologcial component of exercise and apetite. Joe's video is right.

haha awesome video. I never liked chemistry in school, but I think it was the approach they took to it, rather than the actual subject matter.

Breathing exercises,I think one factor weighing in why people are overweight is because they breathe so shallowly throughout the day...this lowers oxygen in the blood stream to the muscles and brain..and contributes to a low metabolism...I think people in the past had their metabolic fires stoke up at least a notch and that constant, moment to moment ,cumulative metabolic activity would keep people more slender generally, nowadays we are very sedentary and static in most of our daily routines.

kids are growing up (im one of them) to be all discombobulated, un-centered,awkward from there bones/muscles/limbs not forming well as they grow. When growing, kids need to stretch their arms & shake their legs because their bones are pushing and stretching against gravity, now they watch tv,sit at desks all day & while they sit there they are still growing but their bones/sinews/muscles aren't working against any force to shape them and it warps their bodies by the time they are full grown...

running is destructive. the amount of energy you spend is dependent on distance traveled, not how fast you got there. think of fitness in five parts; nutrition, strength, intensity, endurance and flexibility. approach in this manner

Standing with good posture, so the spine is straight & the head sits atop the cervical vertebrae is seen as arrogant, or a posture of authority rather than as a natural, healthy physical state for the body to be in. Another thing is that peoples movements are quick, rigid & angular and their gates are unnatural from shoes & from social conditioning dictating movement and expression. Natural, movements & gate are more circular, flowing, and rhythmic,...

the energy expended breathing full breaths & moving with natural, rhythmic fluidity against gravity, this maintains a healthy homeostasis, where the body keeps itself well oxygenated, muscles limber, none of this can occur under the influence of artificial schemes & contrived expression, like nowadays we are digital whereas our natural state is more analogue-continuous & flowing, now every thing is stop-start-stop like a machine,so people breath-hold there breath-breath & it makes the body out of wack

Yes and no the body is constantly burning sugar, fat and carbohydrates from your food intake when you have used all the food energy the body turns to its stores. however the danger in not eating and excercising comeds from the fact that when it needss that little bit extra it also uses muscle which is bad you can help this by eating high protein and low sugar. although sugar is not bad processed sugar is bad the more complex the sugar is chemically C6 H12 O6 is the simplest one also mos common

one thing I notice, and I'm a yoga student of 7 years now, is that peoples' breathing is stifled by bad posture, a stooped, slouched, forward headed posture that in my opinion is subtly but strongly reinforced by our society. Try taking a deep breath at a library or in line somewhere..in my experience it is considered somewhat of an expression of negativity of some sort...as though it is rude or an inappropriate disturbance..(cont.)

Air consists of much more than that.

Actually that isn't true. Recent studies have shown vigorous exercise can have the opposite effect because it increases your appetite, and weakens your will power directly after your work out making it more likely you'll eat something with more calories than you actually burned. While regular exercise is important, its more important what, when, and how you eat.

I should be running. I'm so afraid this baby is gonna put 10 or 15 extra pounds on my already plentiful ass that I've been eating oatmeal and drinking milk like you wouldn't believe. I hate oatmeal, but I hate running even more.
