I hang my bigger PDF patterns on skirts hangers, the kind with two clips. Someone recommended this and it works great. No need to flatten or iron patterns when you want to use them. Of course you need some closet space😜My patterns are overflowing into my husband's closet.

Hi Becki. I really enjoyed your vlog. 😊 Thanks so much for sharing. The outfit and green and pink colour combo is 👌. It fits perfectly and looks amazing. 🔥😍 I’m so sorry about your hinterland dress. I’ve done that with the overlocker so many times! It’s very easy to do. I’m pleased to hear you’re feeling much better and I hope you you make a full recovery soon. I finished my sew yellow for endo project last night at nearly midnight! Have a fab weekend. ❤❤❤

Thank you, I have done it before but not for a while, but every time I use the overlocker I am being careful again 😂 Sometimes we do end up finishing on the 11th hour for these challenges but I bet it’s worth it 😊 xx

Sorry to hear about your hinterland dress. I bought some of that fabric a few years ago and made the Indigo Dress TATB. I know what you mean about having made something that you are not happy with. When I first made it I was really pleased with it, however, I had lost some weight since I made it and realised it was too big in the bodice and I felt it was too short on me. I was going to re-purpose it, as you are right the fabric was too nice not to do something with it, so I bought another metre and put another tier on the bottom, added some waist ties and put a couple of darts in the front bodice to shape it better. The base colour was very slightly different, but it isn't noticeable, so I got away with it.
@whatbecsews Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I’m glad you managed to use the fabric, with my weight loss I have found makes from last year just don’t fit, I have put them in a bag to try and alter them or re purpose them x
@elaineedge5902 Жыл бұрын
Although it is a lot of unpicking could you recut and insert a new front side bodice to your dress.

And now feel the empathy all the way from Sydney. I wrecked a bodice while sewing with a respiratory infection a couple of weeks ago. I obviously couldn't concentrate. Luckily the fabric was still available so I bought more to re-cut the bodice. Have not been able return to it yet. So traumatic!

I want to make the Marnie blose but am waffling over what size to make. I am between a 5 and a 6. I don't want to wear a tent or look pregnant. Should I go down to a 4?
@whatbecsews Жыл бұрын
I am a 6/7 in most Tilly patterns and sizing down to a 4 on this was the best decision I made, most people I have spoken with have sized down at least one size, I would say yes to sizing down to a 4. If it helps my bust is 40inches, the four fits perfectly x

😭 for the dress. So disappointing when it’s a great fit. However… I watched your video yesterday, then coincidentally, I’m reading a book today about mending (vintage) clothes. The author uses fusible web or lightweight interfacing (in combination with hand stitching) to repair tears and holes. The fusible means you can match up the cut edges without overlapping (to minimise fraying but keep flat so the pattern is continuous), then little stitches in a blending thread colour to reinforce. Maybe a little experimenting is worth a try, considering the dress is not currently wearable? All the best with it, whatever you decide to do.
@whatbecsews Жыл бұрын
That’s not a bad idea, I will give it a go I think, might do some research on this 😊 x
@IndigoSew Жыл бұрын
@@whatbecsews I’ve not tried the technique myself so, if you have a go, I’d be interested to see the process or result or whatever you’re happy to share. (It’s all very well hearing/watching how to do something but actually doing it for the first time can be a totally different story.) 🌼

Beautiful garments, Bec! How large are the holes in your Hinterland? When that happens to me, I’m usually able to do some hand embroidery/mending using the same colors as the fabric. No one will notice but you. 😊
@whatbecsews Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I had thought of that, I think because the fabric has a few different shades in the print and it one of the holes was particularly large and funny shaped I had given up on trying to repair x
