What I have heard is that the original negatives of the deleted scenes were destroyed in 1991 or so. The one responsible for that decision was the same as the one who thought it was better to let Tina's dad jump out of the water without the zombie make-up. I had high hopes for a full unrated version for a long time.. but yeah, thanks a bunch MPAA and producers.

The reason I love Kane Hodder is because the Jasons he portrays has the coolest looks except for Manhattan, his build really fits Jason more than the others, and his flexibility in stunt work makes it easier to film Jason bearing up people as well as Jason getting beat up, which have led to some really iconic moments.

@Branchout10976 ай бұрын
I'll even come to Hodder's defense and say that he portrayed Jason in a much different light. Since being brought back to life, he is naturally pissed that he would have to go through this again. Horny Teenagers that he has to slash, not allowed to have a moment's peace, and above all, I imagine that there is a piece of him that wants to just die even if has no choice but to live. Everyone makes fun of the heavy breathing Hodder puts on his Jason but in this film, THIS FILM, it's to show how angry he is at having to exist.

I meet Kane Hodder and I think he is the best Jason but it does suck so many of the kills are edited down thanks to the MPAA which does hurt this movie a lot, though I think the sleeping bag kill is iconic and Kane Hodder told us it was a pain in the ass to do it! I said this in Lee's review I think the ending should have been Tina resurrects her father in zombie form and all of Jason's victims from the movie come out of the lake and grave him and pull him down to the bottom of the lake and he disappears into the ground, that would have been a cool death! One last positive note, I thought the music score for the movie was really good, it was intense!

Ur right why is Kane Hodder the only "Jason" beloved?
@jesusramirezromo20375 жыл бұрын
Because he was the only one that played him more than once Plus, unlike previous jasons, he has alot of personality For example the final chase scene of jason unmasked, you could tell he was frustrated and angry, compare that too Part 3, 4, or 6 where he was just a bulking brute excited too kill
@jacobreeve43734 жыл бұрын
@@jesusramirezromo2037 I wouldn't call that personality exactly. Most actors were paid garbage for these films. Kane was the one that didn't care and just liked playing Jason. The other actors were playing around with the psychology of Jason. And, the emotions of the other Jason iterations were expressed in their actions as opposed to their facial expressions. Jason wears a mask. This just the movie where his mask was removed deliberately to show off Tina's powers.

The New Blood is actually one of my favorite films in the franchise. The look they gave Jason in the film is my number one favorite look for Jason. But I absolutely agree, the MPAA did butcher this film all to hell by making them edit down all of the kills and unfortunately there can never be a special edition director's cut with all the kills added back in to their entirety because Paramount destroyed all the extra footage that they had to cut out of the film in order to get an R rating. And Kane Hodder is without a doubt my favorite Jason.

To cody: first of all let me say I agree with you about liking ted White's , C J Grahms and Richard Brooker's performances as Jason. That said I believe the reason Most fans cite Hodder as the definitive Jason is the fact that one he has enough passion for the character to come back 4 times and would have done it more at a time when the others were loathe to admit that they they were in one let alone return even once . And secondly he added little nuances to the character such as breathing and body moments that have become iconic.

Congratulations on reaching 10k subs! This is definitely one of my favorites in the series. You have Bernie from Weekend at Bernie's, Carry (Tina), the dude who looks like Christopher Reeve, the ugly girl (yeah, the one with the glasses) and the best looking Jason. Yes, I agree that the MPAA literally slaughtered this movie but that isn't the movie's fault and the ending is insane. I do recall reading that they originally had Tina's dad look more rotten which somehow was changed. The way I see it is that the ending is a (hilarious) homage to the original ending of the 1st Friday. All in all, the minute they dumped the scary element starting with Friday 6, that was the changing point for this series but Friday 7 was the last one which still "tried" to keep the scary element. Great review!

This actually my favorite of the Friday films. Loved how Tina was mentally damaged and disturbed Woman. Made U root for her more. The beginning of the end. Kane is very fan friendly and a very nice guy. He's like the wresting hero of Jason to a lot of fans. He's not my favorite Jason, but I think a lot of people give him that credit because of his kind and fan friendly qualities. I liked this movie for a couple of reasons. First, it had a survivor who could actually take the fight to Jason....and second, I felt that in this movie Jason was probably the most expressive compared to the movies that came before it. When it came to the fight scenes you could almost see him thinking "what the eff is up with this girl, she's beating my butt!" lol! You have to give them credit for trying something different. I've seen the unedited takes on KZbin as well and I think it would have been a much better movie had they'd been able to leave them in the film. Keep up the good reviews Cody!

Loved the way you talked about the MPAA. I've heard that a lot from other critics. Even by the filmmakers of this film. That by today's standards, this franchise would be looked at as PG rated films. More like PG-13 to me. Would have been nice to see a HATCHET cut Friday the 13th franchise in general. Cause of how bloody THOSE films was. Mostly because they never had a theatrical release. To hell with the MPAA! I was a fan of this one film though. I love they way they made Jason look with his face. Surprised me all to hell. I do agree with the your assessment of the characters.

Jason vs The Force...hahaha Anyway, what I remember about the promotion of this movie is that it was the first serial killer mash-up, of sorts. Tina got the bulk of the hype in promos and horror magazines. Part of the fun by this point was wondering how the serial killer was going to make a return. The telekinetic teen girl was gimmicky, but did start fans to consider slasher killer face offs in franchise collaborations. (Freddy vs Jason might not have happened without this movie) Paramount did not own the rights to Carrie, nor did they ever make a specific correlation. Carrie had not been the only telekinetic teen-ager in a Brian De Palma movie. Amy Irving and Andrew Stephens also had the power in The Fury, and to some degree, telekinesis was a part of Firestarter. So the telekinetic teen-age girl was already a trope. This was not the first time a generic Carrie had been pitted against a serial killer in a movie. In 1981, just coming of a turn as the babysitter in When A Stranger Calls, Carole Kane played a character called Candy, an overprotected telekinetic who faced off against a slasher in the horror spoof Pandemonium. You'll also see Pee-wee Herman face off against a horse in that movie. So The New Blood heavily promoted the idea that the telekinetic teen was going to be a match for Jason. The only think Lar Park Lincoln really does right with this part is manage to look pathetic when she's crying, but otherwise she isn't very good. Without having to be told, moviegoers knew that Tina was supposed to be Carrie. But Carrie became a massive horror monster in the De Palma movie. Tina never gets to that point. She's played as a heroine, but is probably one of the weakest of final girls I've ever seen. Lar Park Lincoln was making the rounds, playing in Knott's Landing and Freddy's Nightmares. She wasn't a bad actress, but she is in this movie. And the telekinetics never rose to the overall effect of Carrie White at the prom. And that whole raising the dead thing is dumb AF. That is not a telekinetic power. That is necromancy (I guess we get to that in Jason Goes to Hell) Fans loved the idea of Tina, but truthfully, this movie was terrible. The 80s style was in full mode, but none of these girls were even hot. Then this movie also started using the untrustworthy adult authority trope in the character of Dr. Cruise(stupid stage name for a doctor, but Tom was just becoming the next big movie star) The Nightmare movies had built a legacy of untrustworthy adults. The last movie had the Sheriff who did not believe Jason was back, but he wasn't an unscrupulous character. For me, this movie is the worst of the franchise. The Kane Hodder Jason looks fake. Mostly because of that fake back skeletal make-up. And when the hockey mask popped off it looked like the immerging of Large Marge from Pee-wee's big adventure.(see how I connect those Pee-wee Herman dots - 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon be damned) If I were ranking it, it would be in the absolute dead fuck column. As an also ran, Susan Jennifer Sullivan, as the Nancy Allen type mean girl, barely had a career. I can't imagine why?

I love all the films but I think Jason not running is creepier. I also think Jason part 7 is defo the bad ass look of all Jason's. Part 8 is probably a close 2nd. Keep up with the reviews though man. 👍

Spot on about the camp setting, looks like a dump and that was a huge thing that put me off together with the acting. Love your videos man, your awesome!

They actually planned for this to be Freddy vs Jason but when new line wouldn't agree they wrote the character Tina

As an additional note on this one the NPAA wasn't the only thing the director and crew had going against them...they also had to battle their own producer Barbara Sachs who openly dispised the franchise.

Jason Lives ended on such a high note, I loved everything about it - the extremely likable characters you were rooting for, the kills, the shot compositions. This is one I'll have to skip next time, maybe just finish off the whole thing on Jason Lives. Great review.

Originally, this was my favorite in the series because I'm a sucker for fun action sequences. Now that I'm older? It's not nearly as great for me. Plus, this includes one of the biggest continuity middle fingers of the entire series.

Great shirt, Cody! This is my favorite Friday film! Kane Hodder! Bewbs are back!!! 😎 However... this is one F13 film I haven't seen, in a LONG time. I plan to watch it again soon, and I'm afraid the nostalgia will wear off...

I've said this many times before, but Kane Hodder gets so much praise solely based on longevity and name recognition. Most fans don't base anything off of his performance obviously, or they would see that he's very mundane. I will say that Jason's look in The New Blood is fucking awesome, and then by the next movie it seems they put zero effort into his over all appearance.
