Ted White, is the oldest person to play Jason. He was mainly a stunt man back in the 50s. He stayed away from the kids to keep up the creepy factor of his character; however he was also very protective of them as well. The girl that dies in the boat, was beginning to get hypothermia; Ted made them call it quits, so that she could warm up. Truly a class act, RIP

@@MrBoyYankee Well, first of all I have doubts that Ted White is anything like the character he was portrarying. Second of all, everyone in the movie business should stop with the motto: "The pain you're feeling right now isn't going to last forever; the movie we're making is." It's a psychopathic motto. No director should use their cast like a prop or objects. Friday 4 and Prowler are really great horror movies. But I would rather have a subpar movie with safety for the entire crew than a great movie with health concerns not being met. I love The Exorcist, but Friedkin shouldn't have used the methods he did.

I feel like ya'll over think these movies (Friday the 13th), they are simple slasher movies based off of k*lls only. Plus, you have to remember, these are 80s movies. they made the tropes we have today in horror movies. Characters are written simple purposefully. 80s horror are cheesy but built the foundation we have today. Jason has a supernatural base line as well. just as a reminder. There won't be logical reasons as to why he comes back to life. He's basically a zombie monster that lives on Camp Crystal Lake k*lling the teens that caused his death. a curse of "revenge". Not everyone reacts to an extremely stressful and traumatizing experience logically while in the moment. Some people are able to perform under pressure and lock into survival mode and make good decisions, but others panic and break down mentally. It's not just fight or flight, there is also the freeze or faint reactions in which people either freeze up and can't think or move in that moment, or they get so overwhelmed that their brain shuts down and the pass out.

A lot of people are viewing these films through the lens of today's world. I grew up in the 1970s, when horror movies were less popular than they are now. I think Roxy's problem is she believes she would kick some serious butt if she were confronted by a deranged killer. Sitting in a desk chair watching a movie on a screen makes some people very narcissistic. Me? I never think that I would be able to do better than any character in any movie because I don't know what I would do. Then again, sometimes people don't think they should try to help when there's a moment when you might be able to. Spoilers for Nope 2022... The Reel Rejects hosts of this channel, Greg, asked the screen what the guy's objective was when he tried to confront Gordy. I'm pretty sure they probably never took a look at my comment when I mentioned that he saw his costar being beaten so he gathered up the courage to help. He was foolish, yes. But some people think they'll act exatly how they feel they will when watching a movie. And that anyone acting any differently are stupid. The scene when the guy in Friday 4 is yelling that he's being killed happened to be a true story of the director's. But I don't know that that is what Roxy was getting at when complaining about Ginny. I don't think Roxy will ever be able to see that Ginny was really the best final girl. Even Trish wasn't going to go as far as Ginny was willing to go to get Jason to stop. I doubt Trish would have put on a dead woman's sweater to trick Jason. Tommy was the one who was able to pull that off. I used to dispise Roxy when she was on a different KZbin channel. With a lot of these Reject videos I was starting to enjoy her reactions. But she was just not my cup of tea during these few movies. Any strong character is going to know to ask for help...several times, asking for "Paul" is smart. But Ginny did a lot more than Roxy is going to give her credit for because she seems to have some kind of vendetta against that character. She even mentioned the comments about Ginny, but she won't let up about it. Roxy, you're wrong. But you have every right to your opinion.

That was the original intent (they couldn't literally have someone throw a dog), but that later got retconed

The lake was indeed freezing cold. The poor actress had to be naked in it for hours while they set up the complicated effect for her death. Finally the actor who played Jason refused to continue shooting the scene until she was allowed to take a break and warm up. She still ended up getting pneumonia.

Whenever I recommend this series to people, I just tell them go start with this one. It has a great eerie recap that catches up the viewer (even though there isn't much of a plot to even recap) and it takes all the best elements from the first three and mixes them up in a refreshing way. They basically made the same movie four times, but this is clearly the best version of it.

The nudity and gratuitous violence was a draw for teens in the late 80s. Some filmmakers thought it was required to get the boxoffice. It kinda was but I'm glad it's changing to at least having a narrative reason.

Now that you're reacting to lots of classic horror/slasher movies you should check out the band Ice Nine Kills. All their songs from their last 2 albums are all based on horror movies with their music videos being very high quality. They are a metalcore band so i don't know if this is something you listen to but their choruses are all super catchy and melodic. I personally just discovered them and for a horror fan these guys are a must listen .

11:58 Yep that's Crispin Glover, who played George McFly in the first Back to the Future movie. He stays behind the camera more than he appears in front of it these days. Also, it's not that bad watching Corey Feldman at that age since he would star in The Goonies a year after doing this and would go on to have a pretty solid movie career.

If you want to know what JASON VOORHEES IS... He's something called a Draugr "draugr," a term from Norse mythology. Draugr are undead creatures found in Old Norse sagas and folklore, often described as revenants or ghosts with a physical form. They are known to guard their treasures and burial sites and can also leave their graves to haunt and attack the living. While not exactly zombies in the modern sense, draugr share similarities, such as being undead and often malevolent. The idea of draugr being sent to target and kill specific people isn't a standard part of the traditional Norse mythos but could be a creative adaptation in certain modern interpretations or fantasy settings. you could indeed draw parallels between Jason Voorhees and a draugr. Both Jason and draugr are undead beings with a strong connection to a specific location and a motive tied to their past lives. 1. **Guardianship of a Location**: Draugr are often depicted as guarding their burial mounds or treasures. Similarly, Jason is strongly associated with Camp Crystal Lake (also known as Camp Blood), where he continuously returns and defends against intruders. 2. **Motivation**: Draugr are driven by their lingering attachments and grudges. Jason's actions are motivated by the death of his mother and his own past traumas, leading him to seek vengeance against those who come to the camp. 3. **Undeath**: Both Jason and draugr exist in a state between life and death. Jason's seeming invincibility and his continuous return after being killed multiple times reflect the supernatural resilience of draugr. 4. **Physical Form**: Draugr retain a physical body and possess superhuman strength, much like Jason, who is known for his immense strength and endurance. So, Jason Voorhees can be considered a modern interpretation of the draugr myth, adapted to the slasher horror genre.
