Deb you are a busy gal. Getting adjustments made on your shirt pattern is wonderful. I hope you enjoy the sew and the pattern because having put in all the effort means you can make up a bunch....and buy more fabric! Glad the SewJo is back, it's hard to turn it around sometimes.
@DebsWay Жыл бұрын
Hi Sharon!! Isn't that something? -- All the adjustments that were made on a simple t-shirt pattern??? I still have the shirt pieces laying on my cutting table just as you see them in the video. I think I just like to look at what all I did to that pattern and think about why it got slashed up like it was. Amazing! Can you tell? I share my sewing nook with our pantry area. Actually, it's what I call our "sub-pantry" because there is a small pantry in the kitchen, too. What have you been able to make during your vacation stay here in FL?
@sharonmolde6658 Жыл бұрын
@@DebsWay I have to say I can't wait to see this project of yours done up and hear your review. Will you use the pattern again, were there more changes you would like to make on the next one, etc. I am glad you found an instructor that lets you benefit from their experience. Trial and error is time consuming and most times frustrating. What I have made while enjoying winter in FL?...well I am determined to contribute to the Dress A Girl project this year. I have finished two dresses and working on numbers 3 and 4. I was able to thrift cotton bedsheets and men's shirts in XXL (cotton of course) on our trip down. You guys have a lot of thrift shops, it's FL best kept secret! After deconstructing and pressing the liver out of the shirt and sheet pieces, was able to cut whatever size dresses pieces to fit. I also have made two zip wristlets from deconstructed denim jeans. I've also taken my old style Bernina in for servicing in Mary Esther (Hello Dave!) because I don't have a dealer anywhere in my area! Anxious to hear what you and William are up to. Take care, Deb. Enjoy your videos so much.
@DebsWay Жыл бұрын
Dress A Girl is a wonderful organization! I sewed a few dresses for the drive last Fall and I was hoping to do a dress each month this year but I haven't done that. I'll still make a few dresses but I'm not sure just how many. That's a great idea to re-purpose clothing like that. I've used old sheets that I found at our local Good Will to make a couple of house-dresses for me. They were nice and comfortable, all cotton, and cheap!! I'm so glad that you enjoy my videos. I enjoy making them, too. They're basically just vlogs about what we do here during our life in retirement. Since the pandemic, William doesn't like to travel much any more. I miss it! So I've kept myself busy with hobbies and my You Tube channel. That's how I entertain myself these days!

So funny! We were just at a place called White Water Draw where the Sandhill Cranes winter over. It was incredible seeing 1000s of them there! It's nice to be busy doing something you enjoy! Lots of pieces involved in this dress, but it looks pretty cute! Nice knowing how to adjust a pattern to fit correctly. Many years ago as a teen, I took a class on sewing 'designer jeans'. It entailed adjusting the pattern to fit each class participant and I ended up with a lovely pair of jeans!

I cannot imagine that many cranes in one place! They are a fairly mild-mannered bird but I keep my distance; after all, they are wild animals. I am gearing up to have some productive days in my sewing nook. Our weather is getting hotter -- like in the 90's today -- so I will be getting some sewing done for sure. Have a great week-end!

Sorry to see the lovebirds are fighting😂. It’s good to hear that the foot therapy is working. Don’t rush it sometimes it takes a little bit to get back to normal. We’ve kind of noticed our Applebee’s aren’t the same that they used to be. I’m not sure what has changed. Stay safe and healthy! Send our regards to William
@DebsWay Жыл бұрын
You know what, Karl, a lot of restaurants that we like going to have had to change up their menu and the ingredients they use to make things because they either can't get what they used to or it's not available any longer. That's all since the pandemic, too. Just like in our stores. Even the Applebee's salad I really like had fewer pieces of chicken, only a few slivers of almond, and a few of the crispy noodle pieces in it whereas that salad used to be chockful of the ingredients I mentioned. AND the price had increased by a couple of $$ !! Such is life these days. We are doing our best to stay safe & healthy, that's for sure. At our stage in life, we follow the doctor's orders to the letter!! LOLOLOL... William says hello back to you, too! Hey, does Margaret ever bake bread of any kind? Shhh, don't tell anyone -- because I haven't mentioned it to anyone else yet -- but William bought me a KitchenAid Artisan mixer and I want to make up some bread using my new mixer. Would you believe that I have never had a stand mixer before; I'm excited about it. I'll definitely be filming when I use it for the first time. Have a great week!!

Hi Deb, I love that too you are wearing it's so pretty! I'm looking at that pattern on the table and thinking WOW that looks complicated 😅 I have no idea how you do all that which makes me think, should I take some classes? I had that T-shirt pattern I didn't get on with it but that's probably because I didn't understand it 😂. I am so pleased you are sewing again and with such enthusiasm. Oh Deb you had me howling with laughter saying Oh Carole 😂. I am not sure if you remember why I called it So Carole in the first place but the reason was I grew up having the Neil Sedaka song sung to me all the time and I hated it 🤣. When trying to think of a name Chris came up with the idea of So Carole after that very song so I went with it. You were right on the money when you said Oh Carole, brilliant! I can't wait to meet you again, I so enjoyed your company when I saw you last time. Not long to go now 👏🏼. Good luck with the t shirt, it's going to be fabulous. ❤😘
@DebsWay Жыл бұрын
Hi Carole! I did not know the story behind your channel name. I just kind of thought it was something like SO Carole...what's new in life today? LOLOLOL... I haven't touched that t-shirt yet. It is still laying out on my cutting table just the way it was for the video. I keep looking at it and saying "look at all those alterations!" And you know how those alterations came about? By pinning the pattern together enough to try it on! I had the instructor there to check things out and tell me where to slice the pattern and she'd tell me how many inches of tissue paper to add to the sliced area. Then I'd try the pattern on again, make any other adjustments if needed and then pin the pattern on the fabric. It was quite a process! The instructor really emphasized the use of the book and I'm glad that I have it already. It's a very good resource. Since I have to alter my patterns, I am checking out a few different fitting methods. I had this Palmer Pletsch class on Friday; then on Saturday, I had a fit class on-line done by Judy Kessinger of Fit NicSee you soone sewing. And at the Expo, I'll be taking fit classes by Lorraine Henry. I have no idea what her fit method is like but I'm willing to learn as much as I can. It's just a couple of weeks now until you're back in Florida. See you soon!!

Hi Deb, Tony mentioned you were having a problem with your foot and wearing a boot. I've had Degenerative Achilles for 23 years so I can sympathize with your pain. Healing is a slow process. Take care. 👍💚👍

Thank you, Peggy. Yes, I have gotten over the Plantars Fasciitis that plagued me for many months and now I'm dealing with a heel pain that just will not clear up. I'm going to physical therapy right now and it has helped a bit.

@Deb's Way I was diagnosed with Degenerative Achilles in 1999 and with Plantar Faciitis in 2010. My poor left foot and Achilles 🦶 I have had almost a year of problems with the Achilles again. But I'm trying to treat myself with the boot, ice, elevation and Voltaren. I hope you are healing, too. BTW, I'm in Windermere (Orlando) and your neighborhood homes look similar. Are you close by?
@DebsWay Жыл бұрын
Several years ago, I had similar issues and was given orthotics to wear. That really helped and after a while, I had no more issues. I didn't have any issues at all for nearly 25 years until a year ago when my left foot started giving me severe pain. I've been going to a podiatrist for several months and now I'm going to physical therapy. The therapy is doing some good -- finally. I'm near Orlando, too. I'm in Oviedo. Small world!

Hi Deb! I don’t know if my SewJo is coming back while we’re in this rental house. My sewing nook is in an area with too many distractions and interruptions. I love your sewing table. Is it portable? I love the dress pattern and the fabric you chose. Have a lovely weekend.
@DebsWay Жыл бұрын
My cutting table is on wheels and both sides of it fold down. I got it at JoAnn's. Before I had my sewing nook, I'd either set my machine up on the dining room table or on a small folding table in our bedroom. That's only when I was working on a sewing project though; I couldn't leave it setting up all the time because it would be in the way. It really is a convenience having a little sewing nook where everything is set up all the time. Hope all has been well with you, Lisa Ann! Take care now!!
