I had 3 children under 3 and for me keeping my kitchen clean was good for my mental health. I was a SAHM with no dishwasher, so I kept the dishes washed after every meal and after dinner, my husband bathed the children while I finished cleaning up the kitchen. Honestly, coming into the kitchen first thing in the morning and no dishes in sight started my day off on a positive note instead of groaning and feeling defeated even before my day started. With a clean kitchen I could focus on throwing in a load of laundry and sweeping the floors before the rest of the family got up for the breakfast I had ready. My kitchen and my bathrooms being clean before going to bed was my happy place- I am not speaking of a deep clean, just the dishes and wiping surfaces down in each of those areas- it just motivated me and made me feel good when I went to get coffee and shower before the rest of the day began. As for organization, it’s what fits your lifestyle- I keep like items together in my fridge and cabinets and pantry- like salad dressings and bacon but together, condiments together, jams/jellies, salsas and taco sauce, steak sauce/bbq sauce/soy sauce/Worcestershire sauce together, baking items together, seasonings/spices together, oils together, canned goods are together according to what type like straight veggies or fruit, then things like tomato sauce and paste are with the premade spaghetti sauce, Mexican or Asian with each other, noodles, rices and other grains together, etc. it’s what makes sense for you and your family. And The Home Edit is a guide for me, not the end result of all the pretty colors and perfect containers.

This is by far the realest video I have ever seen! From the doll in the fruit basket to the exploded soda in the freezer. Awesome job cleaning and organizing it all. To answer the lunch question, I let min choose what she preferred (home or school lunch), she went back and forth with it so when she does bring her lunch, she has her choice of the type of sandwich and snack. By 1st grade she could make and pack her own with minimal assistance from us. I kept the fruit cups, gogurts (freeze them), fresh fruits, yogurts, chips, crackers, cookies, juice boxes, water, etc accessible for her to reach so she felt more independent when making her lunch, just remember to avoid any nuts and peanut butter being sent due to other people’s allergies.

I truly enjoy your videos, Michelle. I love that you are chatty, share stories and information, and talk about books, podcasts, studies, etc. It makes your videos so much more interesting, though your content is awesome too. :). My kindergartener is very picky. She sometimes buys (pizza, and french toast) but usually brings lunch. You have to find what she likes-mine doesn't like sandwiches and that is the easiest. Rolled-up turkey and cheese, homemade Lunchables, yogurt, string cheese, crackers, and fruit. They get very little time to eat and if she socializes (like mine), make the lunches quick and easy to eat. Practice over the summer by going on a picnic or even in the yard with a lunchbox and try different foods. My feeling is I want her to eat something, not send her with a super healthy lunch that she won't eat. :)

We have a good sized kitchen for a flat, but we were not given space for an upright full-size fridge freezer, so we only had one under the counter fridge freezer with hardly enough space for both of our food choices. He got a 2nd hand freezer an under the counter one so that helps. It's still pretty small but it makes sure we have a few options of quick meals if we need it. I moved into the flat with my partner over a yr ago so we realized we needed more frozen food space and some cupboards in the kitchen had empty boxes and some things that we have to keep for the landlord if we move out, and cooking things that take up a lot of space. I moved things around in the cupboards and left most of the drawers as they were. I was frustrated with the chaos pile of random stuff on the kitchen table. I gave my partner a box for him to dump things into, I put his magazines and post in a tidy pile and the most important post and overflow in a storage box on the counter. So we can compromise and have that stuff in a organised chaos instead. That's more livable for us both as it works for us. As he would lose keys, or his post before we did the boxes thing. I got some storage cd stacks for him as he has so many piles of CDs on the floor and it would stress me out that I couldn't clean certain areas for months as I wasn't able to move the piles as he was going to organise them. So hopefully he will organise them alphabetically like he wanted to and we can both clean the floor and more of it more often. Without me worrying about knocking a cd pile. He's not strict but he wanted them to be in order but hadn't sorted them for months and they all got mixed up by him more. He said I can put my stamp on things to make it feel like home more. As I used to live in a very cramped room with not enough space or storage I want to make sure that we get organised so we don't get to a point where it gets out of control and disorganised.

During the weekend I read to my son what is for lunch at school for that upcoming week, and he tells me if he wants to eat at school or if he wants me to send him lunch, that way I’m prepared for next week and I don’t have to worry about lunch every day. For lunches I try to pack a protein, vegetables (usually tomatoes, carrots…), fruit, something salty (pretzels, goldfish, crackers) and a little snack (3 kisses, a few mini marshmallows, something like that), also my son is in kindergarten but he eats a lot 😂

Michelle , just found you! The video I was watching was @ nine months ago: extreme clean: so many hints I loved, 7 Habits book, plus re the doggie barf, etc I’m 71 yrs old and have had pups since I was 6 yrs old!! I’ve learned a few things. When you see it happen (barf, pee, etc) is much better than finding it later. First: BLOT, BLOT,BLOT with paper towels, you’d be surprised how much comes up that way. You need to fold towels to have a thick wad! I have found that most barfs are from the pup not being able to digest something. Most of the time I have noticed that if it’s a color that’s strange like yellow, orange it’s from their food or treats or something they picked up on the ground! My pups hardly barf at all any more: make sure their food is MADE IN AMERICA as well as any treats! I always make sure there aren’t any strange dyes in the food/treats. Introduce new food/treats slowly AND NO PEOPLE FOOD…however, I will treat them with chicken I make myself on holidays! I’m a sucker for my fur kids! Sorry didn’t mean to be pushy, just relating my YEARS of puppy/doggie barf/pee++ experience. PLUS, I’m a big fan of Bissell, not only for their products but they are staunch supporters of pet/no kill shelter’s and they give a healthy percentage of each item sold to shelters! Hope I helped a bit ?!

I LOVE the finished look. What a difference! FYI, if you buy bananas when they are a little bit green, let them ripen to the perfect ripeness that your family likes them and then put them in the fridge, they stay at that perfect ripeness for a long time...like several weeks. They won't get over-ripe, turn mushy or get black spots.

Good morning, I have also heard the same thing about a woman’s purse. I have three things that I cannot tolerate. I know this sounds crazy but here they are. I cannot sleep in a bed that wasn’t made & the bed must be sprayed with Lysol before you put on the clean sheets.I cannot potty or shower or brush my teeth in a dirty bathroom, I will not cook with anything taken from a dirty refrigerator. The refrigerator thing I credit this crazy thing from my Mom. She would fill a dish pan with soapy bleach water. She would wash the bottle of milk before putting from in the refrigerator. She wiped everything before putting in the refrigerator because her thought was how many people with dirty germs filled hands touched that item? 😮 The bed thing is my own crazy. My poor daughter in college had washed her bedding, went to classes, to her job, took her shower exhausted she couldn’t make her bed because she was out of Lysol spray. My poor child got dressed went to Walmart for Lysol spray @1’ clock in the morning. She called and yelled at me for making her so crazy. The bathroom is because I cannot work with others germ & yuk. I think this is because of my working years in nursing care & hospice. My daughter laughs at me and say any surgeon would have no issues or fear of germs in my bathroom and would be more than happy to operate in my bathroom. 😂😂😂😂 I am so programmed after years of this so it doesn’t stress me at all. These things bring me joy, pleasure & comfort. One man’s crazy is another man sweet spot. 😂😂😂🎉 Great job today Michelle.Until next time take care.😊

Hi, Michelle! In my experience, fruit lasts the longest placed unwashed in mason jars with lids. Just get out what you need and wash and cut it at that time. I’m with you in the refrigerator bins. Two or three do help me stay organized. But any more than that and it just doesn’t work! My twins choose to take a lunch instead of eating at school which is a bummer because at our school all kids eat free. Anyway, my daughter packs, her own lunch and she likes to take things like tortilla chips and mini guacamole packs, salad, homemade lunchables, etc. I pack my son’s lunch and he wants a sandwich and strawberries every day.🤷♀️ I’m loving your real life channel!❤

I have gotten better at doing a regular cleaning the decks washing up drying up and tidying the kitchen and lounge and bathroom before bed. My fiancé thinks I'm crazy to do that but then he enjoys the effects of having plates and bowls available to use as they are done and not sitting in the sink. We don't have a dishwasher I would like one but he says that it would be pointless with the expense of it. If we had one I would set it off before bed most nights speeding up the process.

Great job - awesome transformation. My 4 children are grown but I spent 23 years packing school lunches - my kids never ate school food. Why - because while school lunches meet the nutritional guidelines, we eat way above those guidelines in our homes. In most schools across the country (due to Michelle Obama's lunch program) schools use outside vendors for their food - there are no longer lunch ladies preparing foods and those foods are worse than when the school was preparing them. Their chicken nuggets have a scant amount of meat - it's all breading and fillers. I've volunteered in the schools - I've seen the lunches and while the lunch program has choices of fruit and vegetable most children never eat them - they throw them away! I made creative lunches - fruit kabobs with yogurt dip. Cut up veggies with dip. Sandwiches cut in shapes (using large cookie cutters). Uncrustables (Pampered chef has a round cutter/sealer) so I'd make all kinds of untrustables (P&J, tuna, turkey and cheese, or turkey with cream cheese). Leftovers from dinner - I used a thermos and heat packs to keep lunches hot/warm). Mini pizzas were a favorite. No Lunchables - Instead, I made momables - I could create any Lunchable but mine were healthy. Snack was a snack-size bag of chips or pretzels. I created a lunch menu just like the school cafeteria did so I knew what I needed and what I was making each day/week/month. In middle and Jr. high many schools have vending machines (schools are making money off the crap in those machines). Soda - unhealthy snacks. etc. Parents where I live fought against this and in my district there is still soda but there is also a vending machine for water and healthier type snacks. And guess what most - not all - but most schools do not recycle. They use styrofoam trays and plastic cutlery - it costs too much to purchase reusable items that have to be washed. They preach/teach recycling yet don't practice it in their cafeteria. Yes, they have recycling containers for plastic bottles but not for the lunch trays and utensils - those are too dirty. As you can see. I'm very passionate about this so please do your homework at the schools your children will be attending - ask questions - ask to see the food - know what manufacturer is making it - ask to see the ingredients list. Know what the required nutritional guidelines are and compare them to what you are feeding your children at home. In my case, it was a vast difference. I live in an affluent town with top-rated schools but the lunch program is not a money-maker for school districts - in fact, it can be a money loser for them (hence the vending machines) so don't count on them to be choosing healthy food - they will try to spend the very least. Also, the Obama lunch program is costing them more with vendors they have no choice but to use - each state and district has different ones they use so check them out - don't assume the food is OK because it's a school serving it.

Heyyyy boo, I had the same thing to happen to me too with a dr. Pepper that Logan forgot about in the bottom freezer 🤦🏼♀️ When it comes to school lunches I let Logan pick if he wants to eat lunch that day or take lunch. We look at the school menu and if he doesn’t want to eat at school, he takes a sandwich with fruit and a snack. The kid lunchables that you can buy doesn’t have a lot of food, so we don’t buy those. 😊 Also, how is it going with your bathroom?? Can’t wait to see!! 😁 I hope you and your family have a wonderful blessed week! 😊

Michelle, with the kids lunch, for the younger ones I packed the lunch because I had picky eaters and if they did not like something they would not eat and come home starving plus that is not good to be hungry. Even if they give you a menu for the upcoming week they may make something a little different from you and then they won't eat it. Like Mac and Cheese, my kids like mine home made, but no other. Also, unless you are at the school to see the food I just don't trust the nutrition, everyone is cutter corners these days and young kids need good food for growth. We pay for our kids lunch and it can get expensive. I actually make a turkey breast and slice it down on the weekends and make sandwiches since mine hate lunchmeat, PB & J, veggies like baby carrots, celery and some dip in these small containers I got off amazon, cheese sticks, or I put raisins and granola with a yogurt so they an put it in the yogurt and the list goes on. I put together my own lunchables which have a tons of crap in them from the store. In a pinch they are ok but I would rather put together my own.

I would do a clothes wash every other day if we could afford to do that and if we had a tumble dryer. As we can only dry one load of washing using all our radiators. With energy bills going up and us having to only put the heating on to Dry laundry or if it's so cold and we need to warm up the flat and then turn it off again. The problem with our central heating system is it's all of them on or no heat on at all. So it's expensive to heat the flat as we can't just warm up one or two rooms at a time.

I’m in Canada, we don’t have the option of school lunches, we have to pack them. It’s the worst. My kids are soooo picky 😵💫 one week they like something, the next week they won’t eat it in their lunches. I’m dreading that I still have 3 whole months of packing lunches left because I’m at a loss of what to pack them. My daughter would eat a peanut butter sandwich every day if she could, but all of our schools here are nut free so that isn’t even an option.
