Hi, my name is Michael Nielsen. I'm a professional composer/producer. My music can be heard in movie trailers, video game soundtracks, commercials, movies and tv shows. Great demo/playing! The Paul has a great neck AND bridge pickup tone. Usually I find one or the other but not both. Was going to get the or-c bc I have a small box and the plexiglass channel is my favorite…but now I have to decide…sounds great.

This circuit is THE sound of rock electric guitar from low gain to high… the inherent tight and throaty clunk …the perfect grind and string “boing” the precision tuned big amp thump. it’s all there and it’s just plain marvelous!!! Twin Sister owner here. My all time favorite amp, and this is on the way to my doorstep, to be a fixture on the home studio desktop. It simply does not get any better. Great review, as per usual!!! You da man!!

Love your playing and demo vids. Question - how's it sound if you disable the IRs (on the IR-X, just hold down Channel 1 switch for a few seconds) ? One of the ways I want to use it is as a preamp without the cab sims.

Have you tried Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) yet? It takes some digging to find good profiles but I'm seriously impressed with it. I have Tonex stuff also, and I think NAM sounds a little bit better. I have the IR-X, and I like it a lot, but digital stuff is getting so good these days.

This has the Blues Saraceno tone. Dave should send Blues one, and then make a stereo "dual-amps-in-a-pedal" with a Vox AC30TB style amp on the left side and Fender Twin Reverb style amp on the right side for the ultimate stereo "amp-pedal" experience. This technology sounds way more convincing to me than any digital modeler, even Fractal's models. Nice to have the amp controls, just like real amps.

Great demo, thank you! I'm wondering: Can you go direct in using the USB output? I've got a NUX MG-300, which can do this. It's a nice benefit to be able to record directly into my laptop w/o an audio interface.

Noob question, anybody is welcome to chime in. I don't know anything about using computers in music creation or recording. Is this pedal only used for that or is it something that can be mounted on a traditional pedalboard and go into an amp?

Hi. It doesn't have build in power amp. So it's essentially a preamp. If you put it on your pedalboard, it can go into a FX return of an amp, or into the PA system. Not into the front of the amp like a distortion pedal. I go into greater detail in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXikaoepfaZ3sLM

Guitar > IRD > interface Lynx Aurora (n). Delay is TC 2290 plugin (sweetwater.sjv.io/k02qB0). Intro reverb is Bricasti M7 (sweetwater.sjv.io/Qy15qY). The rest of the verbs is the Eventide SP2016 reverb plugin (sweetwater.sjv.io/jrdvEn).

@@mikeflemingband Sweet! I hope you love it. I does not need a DI box. You can run straight into interface or mic pre. For drums I do a lot of mix and match. Lately it's been a lot of Superior drums. For this one, it was Signature - Part 1 EZX "Reverb" preset, and also Hansen Audio Molten Kit samples added for kick and snare beef.

Can someone help me? I just bought one of these because Im addicted to spending money. Anyway I haven’t even taken it out of the box yet honestly. I bought it to run through my effects loop to bypass my preamp on a few amps I have. Just for fun. I’m told I must disable the IRs. I don’t know how to do this. Can someone help me? I don’t know anything when it comes to these things and I can’t find it in the manual

there is something i still dont understand. if i use for example. a tc electronic g system. with the fkur canle method as in a basically ampless rig. so to speak. will i loose the irs? i ask thia because my idea is to go out. stereo. not fromt he main out of the ird

No, just use the FX Loop with the G System, and out from the IR-D balanced out as it was the MIC in front of your cab!

I think it's better to use the SEND on the IR-D for the Power Station. That bypasses the power amp sim and the IR. You plug that into FX Return of your PS. There's a press switch below that to get the right level. PLENTY of volume and signal on tap this way and you can fine tune the high and low end with the PS knobs. I didn't need much of either though. Sounded the best of any device I've ever heard into my PS.

Ya know, at this point l’m feeling like an old guy. I’ve been at this gear and tone chasing adventure for more than 30 years. There’s just an endless list of gear available. Great gear. A bad tone is practically impossible.

At this point, it would probably be helpful to focus on finding interesting and distinctive tones. It's pretty easy to get an acceptable guitar sound now, but that makes everybody tend to sound alike. I'd like to see more experimentation with unconventional gear and techniques.

A mono effects loop in 2024 on all but entry level gear is extremely disappointing.

The loop is pretty unnecessary, you can run the pedal straight into a stereo delay and reverb.

stereo guitar sound is overrated, tubes are not. hendrix clapton beck slash evh ...all without stereo...the ir d sounds amazing way better than any digital toy with lots of ins and outs
