A beautiful design, and, the physical depiction looks to be very Byzantine. Or. At the very least, just very busy.

The image of Christ is according to Eastern Byzantine style and the theological lesson is that Christ willingly surrendered to the cross for our salvation- there’s no torment in His representation, unlike what we find in latter Baroque Catholic representations. Allow me to correct therefore, it is not about the crucified and resurrected Christ all in one. There is a separate scene showing Christ rising up to heaven - and again this is a trade mark of Byzantine iconography, whereby a number of narratives are depicted within the icon- see also the icon of the nativity of Christ. Interesting to note also how Christ has been nailed using four nails - a constant depiction in the Orthodox Church, whereas in Roman Catholicism after 1250 Christ is nailed using three nails, which created much theological debate. At present it is interesting to note that the four nail versions are coming back to Catholicism, through new, contemporary depictions of the crucifixion, one of which is to be found in the Papal offices. Thank you and God bless

Is it true that St.Francis followers don't eat crabs?

I have heard of the legend of St Francis Xavier (Jesuit) & the crab. Might you be referring to that?

What a fun question! St Francis of Assisi (Franciscan) and St Francis Xavier (Jesuit) are different religious orders :) while Catholics don’t impose any restricted foods, personally I am allergic to crustaceans so I don’t eat crabs haha
