Adopt it shouldn't matter so long as people are willing to take care of and be a responsible pet owner. I've bought all of my dogs from breeders because it's a certain breeds characteristics that I'm after. For me, Mutts rarely make the cut.

They should redo this with someone who pretends to be homeless. When I was homeless, people literally called animal control on me for having a dog and they took my dog from me, claiming that she didn't have adequate shelter. She had an insulated dog house, slept in the tent with me, and I had even put a small fence around my campsite so I didn't have to tie her up. She and my cat were my everything. My cat was my esa for severe depression and they took him too.

It’s usually three different breeds that fall under the classification. So since those reporting on “pit bull attacks” are usually going based on visual qualities (not DNA tests), any “blocky-headed” dog can be mistaken for one. Which is why pit bull attack numbers are so inaccurate. Look it up. There are plenty of stories of wonderful, even heroic, pitties out there. Every dog is an individual, just like humans. Generalizing based on breed is ignorant. And always remember: Check the owner before you check the dog.

Those types of dogs get stolen just as often unfortunately. They're just more likely to use them in dog fighting rings or used to breed fighting dogs. Little dogs are more likely going to get used for backyard breeding/puppy mills. Which is all the more reason to get your dog fixed because they'll be less attractive to those types of people.

Most pit bulls are so loving and gentle, it wouldn't resist. They love to be loved. I wish everyone could understand that. Yes...there are those that are mean and aggressive, but that's the owners train them to be that way. The majority are big teddy bears.

The only one of my dogs i think someone would try to steal is my mother's rescued 8 month old full blooded Shih Tzu, Asha Faun. The others are much larger dogs who know who is who and will attack if needed. They don't like strangers around the house unless introduced. Asha is a sweet baby who really likes people, mostly children and she's a bit absent minded but a beautiful puppy none the less. Her owner's wife, who rented an apartment from my mom, was about to drop her in the pound all because she had grown out of her small size despite still being a puppy, which is something probably the humane society sees almost every day. A couple of months later, she tried to call us to hint that she wanted the puppy back, but also failed to mention that she just got out of a messy, bitter divorce between her and the owner who had been in contact with us since the surrender and had warned us that she was out for blood. He had already put a restraining order on her. We were not about to hand the pup over to a scorned ex. Thankfully we haven't heard from her since, but if Asha had gone missing, she'd be our prime suspect. Asha stays inside with the larger dogs when we are not home and is to never go outside without a family member, mainly me because she won't follow anyone around but me when I'm home. My mother had a Boxer puppy stolen from her backyard as a child after they left the house so she will not let Asha out as the mop of fur can just be picked up and walked off with. My roommate and I are in negotiations with my mom to take over ownership as she just recently rescued a Red Nosed Pitbull puppy named Zeus who requires most of her attention now. So far, the outlook is good. Actually, I could see someone taking off with him too if we're not careful. He's a goofy nut who has to greet everyone and goes ballistic if he sees a leash. We're trying to make it to where he is like my father's older dog, Remmy, a black mouth cur who is the house guardian and takes no bull.

I think they should test dog breed stereotypes with this. Like swap out the itty bitty cutesy dog for some more controversial dog breeds like a pit bull puppy or a Rottweiler puppy. Then see how people react to the dog napping if the dog is a bit more 'dangerous'. BTW I don't feel any breed is dangerous they just need to be handled correctly and a Chihuahua is much more likely to bite than any other dog, but they're cute and small so we forgive them :3

So what if it was rude? If you want to get real results you should try to eliminate all factors that may sway the results. If the dog is cute, people may be prone to help it over an ugly dog that is in the same position. Since most people prefer cute things over ugly things. If you're going to do an experiment don't half-ass it; they've checked cute and now they can check ugly and even average to see if the results are any different. They shouldn't come to a conclusion without testing all possible cases.

I would have let him know it would not be safe for him to attempt to steal a dog. Many years ago, living in a small town in SE UT, I was walking my one year old Malamute and five guys pulled up next to me in a van. The guy riding shotgun started talking about how his girlfriend would love the dog, and I offered to give him the breeder's name an number in OK. He finally got to the point, he wanted my dog for his girlfriend I told him not in this lifetime. He then noted there were five of them, one of me and the backdoor of the van slide open. I then told him there are really sixteen of me. Which caused them all to stop moving for a second, and quickly explained, there was me and fifteen of my kids, affectionately known as the .40SW kids, tucked safely inside their Beretta house while pulling my shirt up and over my PX4 and when the driver saw the handgun, my thumb pop the thumb break and my hand starting to pull the gun from the holster, he smartly drove away and most likely went back to CO to get new underwear for his crew of idiots. Five guys trying to steal my Mal; not in this life. If they had exited, I know one may have made it to the hospital, alive or not, the other four pretty sure would have started crying. After they left, I called the local police, a good friend the watch sgt came out and we had a good laugh. Only ONE sentence is needed for a dog thief...and it is not pretty,

Absolutely not! I ask owners first if it is okay/safe before petting dogs like that I know can be wary of strangers. I am not saying German Shephards or Dobermans are bad or anything, they get a bad rap when it's the irresponsible owners who are to blame and I personally love German Shephards. Hate is a really strong word little one, it is not the dog's fault, but the owners. Dogs have to be raised, just like people and some people don't realise that, you have to teach them, just like you have to teach children. And you can't really judge all dogs and say you hate them on the actions of bad owners who didn't raise their dogs well enough or at all, because they are too blame. If people can't raise a dog, they shouldn't have one. The same goes for children, but having a bad experience I get that you aren't fond of them, but again... that is not the dog's fault, he wasn't raised the right way...Some humans even raise dogs to be dangerous and those people should never be able to own a dog... Humans are the most dangerous specie

I no longer take my little dogs out anywhere I can't see them right from the window too many times I have come out to find people messing with them. When I had a healer mix one man physically pinned it to the ground so his kid could pet it! I am so glad to see people stepping in.
