In my bible study, back when I was still christian, I determined that according to Revelation none of the people who have lived and died from the time of Adam and Eve have gone to either heaven or hell. It clearly states that nobody gets judged individually as they die but that everyone gets judged at the end together. Following that line of thought there would be different stages of "purgatory" for those who die. It's all such nonsense.

I read this as no one goes to heaven in body or spirit until a lot of time consuming things happen, like 1000 year of Satan imprisonment. Then everyone is judged together, so the person who died right after Jesus had to wait several 1000 years to get judged and Chad, who dies at the best time more recent gets judged. Chad did a lot of cool stuff and considered a solid dude so he gets in.

Here is Revelation copying the older story of Tartarus, including Hades, the Greek God of the dead and ruler of the underworld.
@haddow7778 ай бұрын
Yes, because the ancient Greeks thought Hades was separate from the fire. Or that Hades would be emptied of the dead in it, then itself thrown into the fire to be tormented forever. Or that those in Hades, who then were taken out of Hades would then face judgement, because both good and bad people went into Hades, right? The reality is that the word Hades meant a lot of different things to a lot of different people. It was used as the Greek translation of the Hebrew word Sheol, which was simply thr grave or the pit. For Israelites, it was the place where the dead resided, not alive, but dead. They believed that both the good and bad went into Sheol and that they no longer existed. It was a symbolic place. Hebrew scriptures describes the state of death as being like a deep sleep, without though or emotion. So the fact that Revelations 20 speaks of both tbe good and the bad being taken out of death and Hades, it is much more in line with rhe Hebrew scriptures version of death than the ideas of hellfire. Yes, it goes onto to talk about a lake of fire, but look at what goes into it to be tormented. A beast, commonly used in the bible as a symbol of nations. Hades and death, both symbolic places in the bible. The fire is symbolic. The passage even goes to to specify what the fire signifies, a second death. The torment made more sense to those back then, because how a body was treated was a much bigger deal back then. To the ancient Israelites and many other cultures, being buries was a sign of respect. Someone who was buried was respected and loved and generations later they're grave would attest to the fact that the person buried there must have died a good person in the eyes of those left behind. It was a memorial of how good they were. To have your body burned to dust and disappear, would have meant nobody cared for you. The only memory of you would be as a person who wasn't good enough to merit respect or honor. Back then, your name was everything. To be remembered so terribly would have seemed like a torment. Today, we have a common saying that comes close to the idea, that a dead person is spinning in their grave.

Revelation 20 presents a christian version of the jewish apocalyptic belief in resurrection and judgment day. It builds on daniel 12, which is a late jewish apocalyptic writing, and is the only part of the ot which asserts a general resurrection and judgement of the dead, thus contradicting ecclesiastes 9. Other parts of the nt also reference this, such as matthew 10:25; 11:22,24; 12:36,41-42; john 5:28-29; 11:24; 1co 15. Jehovah's witnesses get a lot right, from a harmonized biblical perspective. But revelation 20 is where they get stuff wrong. Even when i was still mostly a believer, there were things about revelation 20 that seemed to not match jw doctrine. In particular, jws take romans 6:7,23 to mean that people cannot be punished for anything they did before they died. So, they wrongly assert that the deeds people are judged for in revelation 20 are deeds done after resurrection, not before. (Edit: on further thought, while i remember considering/questioning the romans 6 thing, the main thing i noticed while still a believer was a mismatch in the timing. Jw doctrine says the resurrection happens during the millennium. Revelation 20 clearly says it happens after.) "Hades" is "hell", but not the modern idea of hell as a place of burning punishment. It is the greek word for the hebrew "sheol". It was not a place of punishment for the bad, but rather a place of sleep, a destination for all the dead, both good and bad. (Ecclesiastes 9). See "heaven and hell", by bart ehrman, for more info. Imprisonment of satan in the abyss. Compare 2peter 2:4; jude 6. Thrones, empowerment of the saints. Daniel 7; matthew 19:28. A kingdom of priests. Exodus 19:6. Gog and magog. Ezekiel 38:2. Fire from heaven. Ezekiel 38:22; 39:6. Books. Daniel 7:10. Book of life. Exodus 32:32-33; psalm 69:28; daniel 12:1. Judged individually according to deeds. Compare matthew 16:27. Resurrection and judgement of the dead. Daniel 12; john 5:28-29.

He will re-establish his Church on earth then he will again ascend to heaven, and rule from there. The"Rapture" was invented by John Nelson Darby in 1831. It is not Biblical. The Church must pass through the tribulation and the Antichrist before it can be perfected. Christ is coming back one more time only, the Second Coming, which precedes the Last Judgement.The resurrection of all the dead, of both the just and the unjust will happen at the Last Judgement I know this all rubbish to you, but i am only correcting the mistakes Protestants believe.

You're adorable!! He'll be walking a desolate earth for the thousand years. Here, precious few denominations get this. The ritual of Atonement is how God is removing sin from existence. The first half of the ritual was the sacrifice of perfection in human flesh. A sacrifice more worthy than any creature of the earth. Perfection then had the sin of the world, 6000 years worth of sin, placed on his head. If he was unworthy he would not have risen the third day. Currently “the sanctuary is being cleansed”. What that means is that the rewards are being set aside according to the Books of Life and Death. When he comes to redeem his bride the wicked will be destroyed by his glory. The unrepentant sinners will endure God's wrath. Leaving none but Satan alone on earth for the millennium. After the millennium, the resurrection unto condemnation fills the ranks of Satan's army. He leads them in a last deception to attack New Jerusalem. God decimates the army, getting them prepared for judgment. Hell, death, the false prophet and the beast are thrown into the lake of fire (this world consumed in fire) and Satan's head is crushed when Jesus places the sins of the world on it. Thus finishing the ritual that began at the foundation of the world. Fear God and give glory to him for the hour of his judgment is come!
