The fact that OP let Jormbo get away with all of that, especially making his girlfriend cry, and didn't think "Hmmm, maybe I should kick this guy out." is really baffling. That's not even stupidity, at that point it's just enabling.

As easy as it might be to think the OP of the Jormbo story should have dropped him year before, you gotta think of it like watching a TV game show. You could answer most if not all the questions easy at home, but if you where put on the spot and in the moment, you'd likely blank and freeze. When you think that either ,"he's a good friend of mine, we've known each other for years", or "he has been with me through many years of good and bad in my life" it can be super hard to let go of even a shitty person like that. I hope they are all doing better, and though it's unlikely, I hope Jormbo had some kind of eye opening change and found friends that he wasn't shit to nor they to him.
@BlueTressym2 жыл бұрын
The Jormbo story is an excellent example of how people underestimate what high Charisma can do. Despite being someone that in hindsight everyone can see was a complete bastard, he was able to get away with his behaviour for two years. A lot of people love to victim-blame but the sheer prevalence of these stories shows that there are an alarming number of people who can get away with being assholes because they know how to manipulate people and situations.

Jormbo seems incredibly spoiled and entitled. I knew someone just like him, didn't think twice about announcing how bored he was even though everyone else had fun, hence making it inevitable for the fun to be soured for everyone. It's like uttering a hex over the activity. He knew that too, the sooner he claimed boredom the sooner another game would start which probably also would be boring. He was the worst DM as well, growing bored of the setting within hours of starting, forcing us to abandon characters we still talked about a decade later. People like that are poison.

(I know it's super easy for them, but they still work hard at it regardless!) As for the stories, requesting nudes of every girl that plays at your table is so wrong. This guy really should have been kicked to the curb a lot sooner but at least it happened eventually. Hope they're having a blast now that he's gone. Also, I'm glad that Jormbo (weird name to me) finally was seen for what he was. It can be hard to see a person who you've known that long as they really are.

I had a Jormbo in my life for 10 years. he was great at first, but he got more and more toxic over time and had me believing that he was right and that I was useless if I didn't have him there guiding me. My biggest regret is that I wasn't the one who ended the 'friendship'.

Yeah, I was there with a nut job once too. i was in a bad place when we met and she seemed awesome to me but everyone told me to get away from her. when she got a new friend group. i think i knew to much and i had to go. it hurt at first but as it was going down i started to see things for how they are and realized so much of her behavior. was toxic. sometimes we mess up and luck out. sure you did not end it but just remember, they could still be in your live. Seems like at the end of it all we still got our "w".

I was thoroughly enjoying my first pathfinder campaign, and months later, i didnt know why or what it was, but i developed depression. I was deflated in my usual interests, no longer focused or driven to do things or hold interests. Friends brought it to my attention that i was slacking in time management and thought it was becoming a problem(because i was supposed to pick up some people) But i didnt know what was going on. I eventually dropped out, telling my friend/DM i couldn't continue because i was always so tired even when i slept well and im not doing so well. He accepted, and i got to hear the stories they had for everyone while i was gone. Happy to hear them tbh. A year ago, my dm apologized because he too understood later on what i was going through, wished that things could be done to kept me longer in the game. Its okey, i thought i was being a jormbo , maybe i was inconsiderate, im sorry for that.

Yes time for cats, the Tabby is Alice right, which house panther? Nipsy perhaps. Oh, c'mon folks, Lucky needs his treats. As to the Jombo, players/readers - when a storyteller does a good job, let them know - it's so easy for a creator to have the winds taken out of their sails, discouraging them from making new adventures or stories.

How the fuck did it take 2 years for OP to grow a spine? I knew a guy just like Jormbo that I couldn't stand after only a few sessions and endured his bullshit for other players who ended up getting kicked. All the guy wanted to do was bitch about politics and how everything sucks, all the while throwing level 15+ monsters at us to see if we survive. First story: OP says to speak out if there is a problem yet she stayed and said nothing because she didn't want the game to end. Also sounds like she had no problem with his advances until she discovered he's hitting on other girls too. Typical leading on attention seeking behaviour. Second story: Sneak attack only requires a finesse or ranged weapon, not a DEX based attack. A strength rogue is a valid build. Sounds like a DM who doesn't know their thing. And is butt-hurt because they're game is boring AF and they can't take the truth. Instead, they kicked the player for being honest with them, with the excuse it was for 'other shitty things he's done' without mentioning a single one. Third story: More excuses from the previous guy to justify him kicking the guy and more lies. One example: the guy supposedly said 'only idiots play paladins' when OP's wife played a paladin. Any normal human being would immediately ask 'Are you saying my wife is an idiot? Bye!' and kicked him there and then. The OP apparently said absolutely nothing, husband of the year. It is obvious the OP thought of himself as a fantastic DM and just couldn't take the truth.
