the 2 demon spells used by Lügner (Liar) and Linie (Line) are Bluterei = bleeding or the bleedening, fitting for Lügner's use of blood magic Erfassen = to grasp, to record, to understand and comprehend. Linie imitates the techniques of warriors she has observed by internalizing their moves as well as their mana flow

The German dub translated Lügner's attack as 'Arterie' (artery), which seems to be closer to Lügner's actual pronunciation and is arguably an even more fitting name.

@@jannis4387 I'm pretty sure (should check the manga to be certain) that Lügner is using Bluterei but saying it so it sounds a lot like Batterie, which is a batterie of cannon, a lot of artillery pieces slated to fire together. So it's a multilingual pun (German and French).

In manga it's explained why Fern can cast quicker than Frieren. Frieren lived for over 1000 years but learned Zoltraak only about 80 years ago, after sealing Qual. For her it still is a "new" spell she learned recently. She needs to think about casting it. But for Fern, this is an ordinary spell that was known long before she was born. It was probably one of the first spells she learned and she used it her whole life. She can cast it instinctively, without putting much (if any) thought to it.

​@@TheRoleplayer40k I dont find many people talking about it but this explanation works because of just one thing. Frieren was staying quiet and living a secluded life until 80yrs ago. And this fact backs up her character nowadays so well, for me its one of the critical writing part of this series i.e making her long lived elf but who didnt bother much action in her life until Himmel. Otherwise there's no way you can justify Frieren to not be OP enough to outsmart and out do everyone in every field given she is over a millenia old.

It's not like that. I won't spoil but Fern is just birthed with the talent to cast magic faster than most people, it's just very effective because Zoltraak is a fast and forward spell in itself. (she can cast defense spell faster than normal too)

I love the manga and was honestly a bit worried about the anime adaptation, as past examples have often been rather disappointing. But with the anime adaptation of Frieren, they've just nailed it - the mood, the characters, the music, the key story elements - it's definitely a masterpiece in every aspect. Although I already know the story, I look forward to every episode!😍

I think an aspect of the Stark’s jacket animation is also that isn’t a perfect action. Like I think of Edward Elric putting his jacket on and I think it’s just *throw back, other sleeve, done* and I reckon most animations would either use that perfect one or have the character flail around for a minute. Stark doesn’t put his jacket on in one perfect motion, nobody does, but he’s not focused on missing, just casually straightens it, like we all would. If that makes sense?

One detail I really like. When Frieren is dealing with demons you often see her confirming they are monsters such as after Aura's comment about Himmel being dead. And with Aura she even gives her the chance to leave. As much as Frieren clearly hates demons it seems to actually be a fairly level headed hatred. She believes they are monsters and acts as such but continuously seems to be confirming it to herself almost as if giving them a chance to prove her wrong. Personally I think that if she met a demon who genuinely did no harm and backed off without fighting she would let them live. But so far that hasn't seemed to have happened and as such she treats them as monsters until proven otherwise even if she expects that otherwise will never come.

What a kick ass episode. Top shelf quality. Yeah, some people mistook the pendents to be how Aura was controlling them but you guys caught it. The armor was the kings son. Frieren having confidence in her party and her telling them they can beat them, because they're more powerful than the demons is really what they need to hear. Stark needs to hear it more and his realization that Linne's blows weren't as heavy as Eise's was a great moment. I didn't mind seeing any of the demons go. We'll see how it goes with Aura. And you're not alone in noticing the great animation of Stark putting on his jacket. I appreciated that as well.

The line that Aura said about Himmel being long gone was surprisingly actually done better in the English dub. I heard it even went viral in Japan because they liked it better than this. She instead tells her "Himmel is rotting in the ground". That was just such a stone cold line to say to Frieren, imo. And you could see that it really shook her.

Wait, that's from the official English dub? I kept seeing Japanese people posting the panel with really poor typesetting, and thought they were discussing some bad fan translation. From what I saw from those text-to-speech compilation videos, the line in question also had (some of) them making fun of Americans for needing to have things stated explicitly, and for villains to basically have to twirl their mustaches and signal how undeniably evil they are (which would have some fans of the manga twitching a little, surely). Edit: I looked up the scene and I actually liked it way more than I thought I would lmao

Nope, when Aura mentions that Himmel is dead that's not a sign for Frieren to give up on her restraints... Subconsciously she gets angry because Aura dares speak badly about Himmel, even if's just mentioning the fact that he's dead. So Frieren is done talking with her, before she might have even let her escape if she gave up the attack on the city, but not after that. Dead demon walking.
