Ooh an extra video - definitely pleased that I stayed up reading tonight, otherwise I'd have missed it! Thank you 😊😊! Minze Teije is definitely being a typical boy there - playing with smelly stuff that he's not supposed to touch, or even like 😂😂😂! I could tell that it was smelly from the look on Reintje's face when she had a little sniff of it 😨😨😨! I'm pleased that the three weanlings have got used to going out with Reintje and Minze Teije now, without running off in the opposite direction 😊😊. Reintje also seems to have accepted the three girls being in the field with her darling son 😊😊. Pjirkje was obviously a bit itchy (losing her summer coat?)and was desperate for a roll - pretty much dropping down onto the grass as soon as she entered the field 😂😂😂! I love that full body shake that horses do (at least when I'm not riding them - that's bone shaking 😖😖😖!) - they look so goofy when they are doing it 😂😂😂. Happy mares having a drink before going off into the field that had been sectioned off looking for some fresh grass to munch on 😊. Meanwhile, Eefje is being a bit of a floozy wanting to stay with Johnny, but when she realised she couldn't get to him, she went over to Rinske for cuddles. She's definitely a cuddle bug like her mum, Queen Uniek 😍😍😍!

It is so Friesian the way minze teije was playing and exploring the jar. So intelligent and so curious. Wow two videos today. I was sitting outside here in Florida when this wonderful surprise video popped up. Again I will never tire of seeing beautiful Friesian horses going out to pasture and being in the pAsture. Trotting, running and friesians being Friesians .thank you everyone involved in making this video and posting it ....if yvonne does not know why they drink first when they go out I am not going to pretend to know.... I going to venture a wild guess that it is a security thing....that they want to know and trust that they have water near.

Doesn't surprise me MT likes the goop, it reminds him of mom. I had some cream for one of my kitties to heal her skin, it was bitter tasting to discourage licking. She licked more when the cream was applied then when all I had on her was corn starch! Johnny was sure interested in Eefje as well from the looks him, ever the Romeo.😘😉

Jennifer Rowan If the fillies were put in with the adults all that would happen is the mares would chase them away and if the fillies continued to try & seek them out there’s the potential that they could be hurt by any of them regardless of weather their mom & daughter the mares aren’t going to care.Besides before too long all the mares are going to have their complete focus on their new little ones and caring for them,that makes the mares even more protective and even less tolerant of the younger girls being close to them. It’s better this way because the teenagers already have their own herd and everyone has their own bonds together each filly/mare with their own buddy they like to spend time with plus everyone is of similar age,the same applies to the adults in their herd.😊🐴

Victoria Kefer No breeding age is 4 or older with Friesian’s it can potentially be dangerous to breed them sooner of course with most other breeds too it’s better to wait until age 4 & beyond. Friesian horses take longer to develop/mature than other horses as they don’t stop growing until around 8 years old. If they were to be pregnant sooner than this it can be risky because the mares body isn’t developed enough to safely carry a foal the entire 11 months a horse is pregnant so it can cause issues for both the mare & any future pregnancy she could’ve had. With the mares at Goengamieden all are pregnant via AI(not all facilities do it like that)this is just how Rein has chosen to do things and all foals are sired by approved KFPS registered Studbook stallions so everything is monitored very closely to avoid inbreeding as almost all Friesian’s are related to each other in some way. This is due to the breed almost being completely wiped out in the beginning with only 3 stallions available for breeding so all the Friesian’s today can trace lines back to one of these 3 stallions.

Yes I admit to feeling badly for them being sold away from their family & friends I know I'm giving them much too human feeling they don't have Seeing them ignore their own foals after weaning makes that pretty clear Nature allows them to disengage easily Imagine how much emotional suffering they'd have otherwise when losing foals etc in the wild

I often wonder why Johnny is not allowed to create his own fraternity, rather than being left in his own paradise. Its good to Minze a young scientist in the making. Creating new challenges for the community to come with a more robust alternative. Eefje is stunningly beautiful, in her own right and young ones looking at their mother's there is something I need to understand the sudden parting, between mother and child. How easily the transition seems to be. It leaves me wondering.

Valmik Munkur This is because Johnny is a stallion and he would not tolerate sharing his space with another horse all they would do is fight. Johnny does get to breed with Dartmoor mares his size and has sired foals but that is between Rein and the owners of the mares it’s a private situation. Johnny does get A LOT of attention from Yvonne and the team especially the kids her little Rein and then of course Faya(Geertje’s daughter)and she does ride him.

Do the horses ever slide into the water when they're drinking? Do they ever try to go across the water to the other side?

99kidsncats No not the adults because they’re much more experienced but the youngsters have learned the hard way occasionally because they’ve fallen in Minze Teije was the most recent one. Usually one time is enough to convince them not to do it again plus the bottom of the ditches have sticky mud so there’s a potential to get stuck. Most of the horses don’t go into the water often except with the cart getting them to enjoy the water has to be taught/trained Uniek really does love it but only the shallow water obstacle in front of the barn the deep pond is a no go.😄She’ll go through the shallow side on her own and also with one of the youngsters in front of the cart to get them used to it but deeper water is scary because horses being flight/prey animals don’t like to go somewhere they can’t see where they place their feet it’s against their instincts to do this.

@@shannondominguez9725 i photographed/filmed a horse rescue in oregon a few years ago. some of my fave video is the horses in the pond, swimming, playing in the mud, even getting in up to their heads. then they would put their heads down and blow bubbles!

The water in the stable...is chlorinated...or has fluoride added?...both those water treatments can be off putting, so when they get outside they drink the water that is more palatable to them...We have spring water into our home and when I visit friends in town, I really can taste the difference.

You should try to dye their mane different colours! It is easier to tell them apart that way LOL just a suggestion also they would look so adorable ❤️😂

I'm not convinced Minze Teije really liked the goo after getting a taste. After the initial curiosity and, I think, after getting a taste, he was no longer so interested. He didn't lick your fingers since he had already "tasted" the container. The smell didn't seem to bother him, really.
